Offers to Chaminade - Madonna HS kids
We have offered 5 kids in the 2022 class out of Chaminade - Madonna High school in Hollywood, FL (Miami). This would be a cool pipeline. We've offered other kids out of Miami too, but several from this school.
I'm not sure the 247 site can even keep up with how many kids we're offering. It seems USU has over 100 offers out for the 2022 class.

Re: Offers to Chaminade - Madonna HS kids
I’ve noticed we have been offering kids who are 4 and 5 stars that are already trending to the top 10 type programs. I guess there is always a chance. If nothing else it gives you somebody that other kids look up to putting out a tweet about usu.

I believe that is the school Colombi came from and his dad coaches DBs there.

Oh wow, I completely missed that was Colombi's school. I looked up his dad though and it looks like his dad coaches at a different HS, American Heritage.GeorgiaAggie wrote: ↑March 4th, 2021, 9:31 amI believe that is the school Colombi came from and his dad coaches DBs there.

He must have gotten a different job because I'm pretty sure he coached there for a few years after his son left.Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑March 4th, 2021, 9:42 amOh wow, I completely missed that was Colombi's school. I'm doing my best!! I believe we have nearly 115 offers out right now. I do believe we've got them all.Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑March 4th, 2021, 9:09 amWe have offered 5 kids in the 2022 class out of Chaminade - Madonna High school in Hollywood, FL (Miami). That is where Colombi Jr. played. However, Colombi Sr. coaches at American Heritage Delray.GeorgiaAggie wrote: ↑March 4th, 2021, 9:31 amI believe that is the school Colombi came from and his dad coaches DBs there.

Have we made amends with Colombi Sr. yet now that GA is gone?aggies22 wrote: ↑March 4th, 2021, 10:22 amThat is where Colombi Jr. played. Re: Offers to Chaminade - Madonna HS kids
I would dare say that if Ephraim Banda is offering a kid that was committed to Miami he may know that there is an opportunity to bring that kid in. Perhaps Banda and Alex Devine were his primary recruiters for the Hurricanes?Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑March 4th, 2021, 9:09 amWe have offered 5 kids in the 2022 class out of Chaminade - Madonna High school in Hollywood, FL (Miami). @aggies22 is a beast for keeping up with all of this! Thx and good on ya.
I'd rather see us taking lots of shots and missing instead of not taking the shots. We may land a few more big recruits, who knows?

Re: Offers to Chaminade - Madonna HS kids
I like the idea of offering multiple kids that are good enough from the same high school when recruiting these schools that are way out of the region. I think a kid is more apt to accept and come to USU if he has a friend or someone he knows well to come with him. It isn't easy for these kids to be so far away from home and be alone. Yes - they have built in friend group with their team, but those relationships take a while to build. Having a familiar face to talk to can help a ton.

Re: Offers to Chaminade - Madonna HS kids
I agree go get the best. Are we going to land most of them, no, but at least we are getting the brand out there. They will offer a lot kids that are still high level players that we have realistic shots at.

Re: Offers to Chaminade - Madonna HS kids
This staff isn't neglecting the players we have a good shot at landing. They are just throwing some offers out there to higher end players to see if they can get any here. I think that is a good tactic.

This approach is what GA 1.0 did. I love it.

Re: Offers to Chaminade - Madonna HS kids
in this day of players transferring like crazy, I think it's good to get these players attention. You may not land them the first time around, but could be on their list if they transfer.

That's actually how we ended up signing Kyle Mayberry and Quazzy White.

Re: Offers to Chaminade - Madonna HS kids
That is a very intuitive insight and 100% why we should be going this route. Just like my dad always told me to never burn bridges when leaving jobs because you never know when the time or need will come that you need to return to that job or work for that person again.

Well, this just got interesting. Though I have to think maybe it was Miami who dropped his offer.

And the first (hopefully not the last) of these Chaminade kids in the original post commits to USU.

It was. I think their new DL coach wants to go in a different direction. May still end up there but I don't expect it. Would be a great addition here if Banda could pull it off.Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑March 11th, 2021, 8:30 amWell, this just got interesting. Though I have to think maybe it was Miami who dropped his offer.
