Seems this was warned about. Just so you know what USU is getting. At least the latest incident was an opponent this time.

Re: Ike Larsen
Sounds like he's better suited for football...get some of that aggression out within the rules of the game.
At the end of the day, he'll either mature and learn to control his temper or he'll not see the field much.

I guess we'll see. It's the off the field/court assaults of teammates that are the most concerning. If he was a great teammate, I'd give him a pass. Just sayin' this is what USU is getting.

You get away with a lot when the dude gunning for your job isn’t in the same league.
When the dude gunning for your job is a damn good football player those little antics don’t fly as well.
And you certainly don’t want those antics when you’re the guy chasing.

I've played in my fair share of church ball games where there were punches exchanged. And those were grown men, not 17-year-old kids.
I'm not saying it's nothing, I just think it's weird that a bunch of grown men on a message board are talking about the character of a kid who most of them have likely never even had an interaction with. I'll leave that to the coaches.

I'm in the cut the kid some slack corner. Kids at 18 do dumb things. Just need some teaching by coaches and other adults close to him to let him know that can't happen again.

Be interested to see how the coaching staff treats him. They will obviously be aware of these instances. I am hopeful that they can harness that energy into the on the filed play with aggressiveness and hard hitting within what is allowed.

What possible good do you see coming from posting this? Why do you think we need to “know what usu is getting?” As if this message board has anything to do with who is recruited, or what they did before they got here. Slandering USU recruits publicly is annoying, petty, immature, and damaging to the program. You don’t like Ike. We get it.USUallyAGGrIvatEd wrote: ↑March 2nd, 2021, 3:47 pmhttps://www.hjnews.com/sports/school/pr ... 83846.html

Thanks for information, I appreciate it. It is always good to get perspective on what led up to the incident. Did Ike land the round house or did he just catch air?

Re: Ike Larsen
The more important question: do you think Ike can learn how to roundhouse in the football scrum without getting caught?

Re: Ike Larsen
If you aren't getting in fights while playing sports you are doing it wrong.
If you and all your buddies didn't piss each other off and have someone quit a pickup game of baseketball, wiffle ball or back yard football you 100% were doing it wrong.
Why try to destrory a kid. There is way to much of this on this board and in this valley. You don't have to tear down a kid to try and prove your kid is successful. Just cause a kid is successful doesnt mean your kid isn't. If fact the more we have successful athletes in a highschool program the more the other boarderline kids will get looks.
I have known a ton of kids who got a look or a break because a coach or a scout was at a game to see another kid. We shouldn't be ripping kids apart for a on the court issue. It isn't like this was the Pistons/Pacers game.

Re: Ike Larsen
I guarantee almost every player in the NBA has gone their entire career without punching somebody in a game. Are they doing it wrong? I'm not saying he needs to lose his scholarship over an incident. I'm saying coaches need to stamp out that behavior if it is a pattern and channel it into something healthier, especially if the knock on a player is they instigate this in a locker room. I guarantee many posters would be singing a different tune if it was an nmsu player punching Tai Wesley.MWCFAN12 wrote:If you aren't getting in fights while playing sports you are doing it wrong.

So you think there is a difference between throwing a punch and throwing a elbow with intent ? Because I guarantee you every NBA player has thrown a elbow with intent to hit someone. Also I guarantee you most nba players have thrown punch or a shove in a game. How about baseball.. What is the difference between a punch and fastball at kids back or head... And don't get me started on football players trying to injury the other team.
And we aren't talking about a NBA player . WE ARE TALKING ABOUT A HIGHSCHOOL KID.

Im curious why we are still discussing this? He punched a kid. He f’d up. It’s done with. He was ejected. He probably has other consequences too. The kid he punched probably has moved on with his life. We probably should too.
