Orem High. Disappointing, but not particularly surprising.

He played well for a freshman. I think he has a ton of potential. No matter what I hate losing players to them!!

You'd all $hit if you knew who the old staff passed on in order to take him.

Re: Jakob Robinson transferring to BYU
I’m not sure if this who Aggies22 is referring to, but I know Henry Colombi’s dad was begging us to offer this dude and saying he had him ready to go to Usu. He was a corner.
And we wouldn’t even look at him.
And we wouldn’t even look at him.

Re: Jakob Robinson transferring to BYU
Roy, you already know this is who I have been referring to when Jakob Robinson has been brought up. Here's the story. Jamal did in fact play for Henry Colombi Sr. We officially offered him in March of his junior year. Over the summer and into the fall, myself and Colombi Sr., convinced Jamal that Utah State would be the place for him. Jamal was eventually scheduled for an official visit to Utah State in October of 2019. Any doubts? Go look at my Twitter timeline, I announced it. At that time Jamal was down to us and Alabama as his schools of choice. Jamal had every intention of coming on his official visit and committing. Two days later the official visit was cancelled by Utah State. The reason? His visit was cancelled because the old coaching staff felt like they HAD NOT scouted Jamal properly and they were unsure if he was what they were looking for. The reason they had not scouted him properly? They never believed he would actually come to Utah State. The week after Jamal's cancelled visit was our bye week. Jamal was told that a position coach (I know who the coach was) from Utah State would be in attendance at his high school game that week. The position coach NEVER SHOWED UP in Florida. He went to Kansas to a JuCo instead to scout a player we had no shot in hell of landing. And that was the last time Jamal heard from Utah State. After the Utah State debacle, Jamal's father became overly involved in his recruiting and Jamal was eventually duped into signing an LOI with Florida International during the early signing period. The only reason the signed LOI was discovered was because Michigan State came calling and when they ran his records by the NCAA Clearinghouse they were informed that Jamal had already signed an LOI. I feel like saying "and now you have the rest of the story." Crazy but 100% true.Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑February 24th, 2021, 9:17 pmI’m not sure if this who Aggies22 is referring to, but I know Henry Colombi’s dad was begging us to offer this dude and saying he had him ready to go to Usu. Re: Jakob Robinson transferring to BYU
The last staff just did a real bang-up job across the board, sounds like.
This is already a rebuild, but I shudder to think how bad it would have been if the old staff had the keys to the car for another year or two.
Wish Jakob good luck at BYU except for when he plays us. That said, would have been nice to have a 6’2 corner instead of a one year rental of a local guy that was just waiting for his chance at BYU. But that would have required a little basic common sense and competence from the last staff —something that seems to have been in short supply with passage of time and new revelations about what was going on.

Careful with that. Keegan Andersen will tweet mean things and do a fluff PR piece on his dad with more of this talk.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑February 25th, 2021, 11:14 amThe last staff just did a real bang-up job across the board, sounds like.
