That sucks. From everything I've seen he's as good of a recruiter as we've ever had.

Neither do I. He has been part of some great recruiting that helped produce an 11-2 team, but the best recruiting happened during Gary 1.0's tenure.oleblu111 wrote: ↑January 20th, 2021, 1:49 pmAs good as we have ever had ? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Maybe I misremember but for a while there it seemed like every kid 22 would interview after committing/signing would mention Collins name. A couple guys I know he was involved with like AJ Vongphachahn and Elelyon Noa I think will really produce in the future.aggies22 wrote: ↑January 20th, 2021, 2:41 pmOh boy.......Aggie formerly in Hawaii wrote: ↑January 20th, 2021, 2:01 pmNeither do I. Re: Stacy Collins to Boise State
According to the new coaches thread it did not look like he was being retained anyway, is that correct?

Re: Stacy Collins to Boise State
Coach Collins recruited my son, Stephen Kotsanlee, as a Freshman punter.
I recall when Stephen, and his brother, Ennis, returned to Melbourne from the weekened visit to Logan in Sep 2019, they were both impressed by the very warm welcome they received, especially from Coach Collins. I never had the privilege of meeting the man but Stephen always spoke very highly of him. I hope he is successful in his new role - except when they play the Aggies, of course!

Re: Stacy Collins to Boise State
Unlike Frank, Stacy could actually recruit.
I think Stacy stood out because the rest of the staff was so bad at recruiting the last 3 or so years.
I find it kind of funny or weird that Boise is plundering what's left of a failed staff from Logan that wasn't retained.
If I was a donkey fan I'd be concerned about the kind of staff that Avalos is building quite frankly.

Re: Stacy Collins to Boise State
You remember correctly. Coach Collins was VERY instrumental in bringing a large portion of recruits the last few years of the Matt Wells era. When Gary returned, although Coach Collins was still out recruiting hard, the Gary staff kind of went and did their own thing.CanuckAggie wrote: ↑January 20th, 2021, 3:05 pmMaybe I misremember but for a while there it seemed like every kid 22 would interview after committing/signing would mention Collins name. Many thanks aggies22. I've been lurking for a while and decided to join. I'm still wearing my "L" plates trying to learn your game so there won't be any tactical insights from me, that's a given!
Stephen is loving his time in Logan. 2020 was bittersweet. He had a good year personally but he's all about team success and just playing his role.
Btw, my Young Son, Ennis, plays American Football in Melbourne for the Croydon Rangers and he has aspirations of making the journey to the US to play. His path is much tougher, being a receiver but he is very committed and working hard to realise his dream.

How does your son like the new football staff? Has he said what the team feeling/attitude is now that the coaches are installed?AussieAggieDad wrote: ↑January 20th, 2021, 3:42 pmMany thanks aggies22. Hard to believe considering how great of recruiting classes we had a decade ago and what they set up both with on field production on the field and future NFL players. Early days Blue. I had a brief chat with him after their first team meeting. He was excited by the energy and passion of the new coaching team (no surprise really). He's very happy to get back to work Due to Covid he was unable to return to Oz for Christmas so he stayed in Logan and worked out nearly every day. He had the gym to himself!.

Ha, Ha. Nice try TheAKAggie! Whilst many families do informally celebrate "Christmas in July" in the middle of our winter, we do conform with the rest of the work by celebrating 25 Dec! Today we are enjoying 93F (34C) in the middle of our summer.
Christmas 2020 was Stephen's first ever experience of a White Christmas - though I believe it didn't actually snow on the day!! Normally we are eating our Christmas Roast dinner in the middle of a heatwave - madness, I know!

It would appear that Boise has a thing for former USU coaches. They've got 2 on the football staff and 1 on the basketball staff.
