Re: Unannounced RM's
Are they enrolling this semester? Otto is a 3 star guy recruited by the old staff. I can't find much on Jack Rigby. How do these guys work with our scholarship numbers?

Re: Unannounced RM's
Yes. They are currently enrolled. Jack was signed by the old staff as well. Unless we start pushing the high school kids forward we are done. Any high school kid signed after this point will be a push forward to August.

Is the current staff honoring all offers/commitments from the old staff?

Yes. BUT he was supposed to be mission bound but obviously changed his mind or came home early. Either way, it's all good.

Ok so in this case RM is literally return missionary. I’m an idiot.

I called Tia an RM in this thread because I have no idea if he actually went and returned or just chose to grayshirt instead?

Down south, it also means "ready to marry" so your confusion is understandable.

Re: Unannounced RM's
Otto Tia went to Northridge. If I remember correctly we had a verbal commitment from a LB from Skyridge and we just sort of gravitated away from him. His primary recruiter was Frank. I believe he ended up signing with Southern Utah.mcaggie1 wrote: ↑January 20th, 2021, 4:47 pmIs Tia from Northridge or Skyridge? Re: Unannounced RM's
“Sort of gravitated away” in other words “Utah State athletics left the kid without a home since they didn’t honor offers from previous coaches”. I wish we would have had more integrity than that. I understand it’s a new coaching staff but that falls back on making USU not honorable. Sometimes it’s about more than winning. These decisions affect the entire family. I just don’t understand why Hartwell even allowed the prior staff to make offers if he wasn’t going to honor them.aggies22 wrote: ↑January 20th, 2021, 6:50 pmOtto Tia went to Northridge. Re: Unannounced RM's
Isn't the kid we're talking about here one from 1-2 years ago that it was Gary's staff that stopped recruiting him? You're criticisms here seem misguided, Ag1918.Ag1918 wrote: ↑January 20th, 2021, 10:40 pm“Sort of gravitated away” in other words “Utah State athletics left the kid without a home since they didn’t honor offers from previous coaches”. Re: Unannounced RM's
Nothing is on Hartwell. Some of the kids that were previously committed to the staff of Gary Anderson were told that they needed to look elsewhere and that is the incoming coaches prerogative. However in regards to the LB from Skyridge that you are referring to that kid was a few years back but for the life of me I can't remember his name. All I recall is that he was a poly kid that was essentially "ghosted".Ag1918 wrote: ↑January 20th, 2021, 10:40 pm“Sort of gravitated away” in other words “Utah State athletics left the kid without a home since they didn’t honor offers from previous coaches”. Re: Unannounced RM's
Couple more RM's have met with Coach and are walking on.
Creedyn Foulger - TE starter at Mtn Crest as soph and junior. Missed senior year due to an injury. Hope the mission and 2 years has given him time to heal.
Payton Thomas - Ridgeline/Mtn Crest Played QB in HS but is a slot WR. Son of former Aggie WR Rob Thomas (1994). Spent last spring and fall at CMU and transferred.

Re: Unannounced RM's
Do you anticipate either Tia or Rigby seeing the field this season?
I'd be surprised if Rigby did considering we have 3-4 solid TE's on the roster. Tia at WR intrigues me a bit seeing as he is a 6'3" WR with a sold frame. He isn't necessarily a burner but is fast enough for his size, and though he seems to lack great hops, he does have a knack for making contested catches. If he can block well, maybe he can get on the field some, or at least on special teams.

Re: Unannounced RM's
Blake Anderson did say in an article that he's still looking to recruit return missionaries or LDS players. Obviously his recruiting strategy is very open to other backgrounds and regions, but he still knows that local recruiting is important.
https://www.hjnews.com/sports/usu/ander ... 33a60.html
Article states:
"As far as recruiting is concerned, Anderson plans on being versatile in his approach, but it starts with the in-state kids. He also talked about the importance of keeping the Polynesian pipeline going and recruiting returned missionaries or athletes who plan on serving missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints."

First, I don't think Justice Ena was ever an FBS offensive lineman. Second, I doubt we'll see him return and play for the Aggies.
I have been talking with Bowen's parents and they are trying to find out if the staff is going to honor his scholarship from the previous staff.

Re: Unannounced RM's
I honestly don’t think Otto Tia has ever served a mission. He may have intended to, but I don’t think he actually did.
I knew his coach at Northridge and he said for Otto the sky is the limit. He said he has only played a few years and is now just starting to realize his real talent. An RS year (re-do) him a lot of good and allow him to continue to develop.
