Uniform Question
I got asked if this design on the sleeve and leg of the football uniform means anything, I have no idea. Anybody know? Honestly, I hope it does, because I hate the look of it and would like something to change my mind.

Re: Uniform Question
I don’t know the answer to your question, but I’m not a fan either. It’s honestly been a few seasons since I’ve liked our uniforms. I’d like to go back to something more like the look we had in 2012-2014 timeframe with the initial rebrand look.
Does anyone know if we re-upped with Nike again?
So crisp, so clean. I miss the matte helmets too.

Yes, we did. And I’m with you guys, our current uniforms are fine but meh. I’m also a fan of the simpler looks from a few years ago.ineptimusprime wrote:I don’t know the answer to your question, but I’m not a fan either. Re: Uniform Question
I would assume it’s meant to be a tribal band worn on the arm of Polynesians. Just guessing that the team designed their own band signifying band of brothers. That’s my assumption anyway.

Re: Uniform Question
I don't think it means anything, just a trim pattern selection from Nike. I think more than anything it's the mark of a poor football team. I was hoping to see those things ditched before the season but I guess it's too big of a wish to see new unis every year at USU. I'm hoping with the new staff that we'll see a whole new look on our team next season too.

Re: Uniform Question
When it comes to uniforms you have two types of teams:
1. The teams who have found “their look.” They are going to be wearing the same uniform forever, with maybe one alternative uniform. I.e. USC, Alabama, Michigan, Notre Dame, Auburn, Texas, and Penn State.
2. The teams who are changing what their jerseys look like every 3-4 years.
Unfortunately we are in the latter. We need to get back to a cleaner, simpler design that will move us to the top category.
I also think we need to dump the Pewter grey and just focus on our Aggie Blue and Fighting White

Re: Uniform Question
I brought this subject up with my spouse a few months ago. I am a BYU-H graduate, spent a lot of time in Hawaii, am very familiar with the Polynesian culture, embraced it and love it. This design element on our uniforms, intended or not, in my opinion, is very similar to the design elements one would see in Polynesian culture.

Re: Uniform Question
I thought either maybe something Polynesian or perhaps something Shoshone, a nod to history of the area. Hell, you tell me some kid of a coach drew it and we didn't want to hurt the kids feelings and I'll get on board. Anything other than just a random weird pattern that drives me nuts. Was hoping for something cool.NorCalAggie wrote: ↑January 1st, 2021, 8:27 pmI brought this subject up with my spouse a few months ago. Re: Uniform Question
I'm just old school with uniform colors my friends. White helmets, Navy jerseys, white pants at home. White top to bottom when traveling with Navy Blue pants from time to time. Certainly not opposed to a unique change up at times, but no fan of the designer combinations over the past few years.
A well known sports writer spoke with me about the Navy Blue and White colors at Utah State and noted he thought those colors were outstanding.

Re: Uniform Question
I certainly liked the simpler uniforms better than the ones with the colored sleeves. I also don’t like these ones. It always looked like “grandmas table cloth trim” to me.
Keep it simple.

Re: Uniform Question
Not sure if it’s Polynesian, Native American, or rando Nike graphics, but I guess I’m one of the very few that love it.
Certainly would prefer if it was Polynesian or Native American though.

Re: Uniform Question
It’s called a “Warrior stripe”. It’s Polynesian. The arrow a must point forward. It was added to help honor Poly culture. But, suddenly, the whole athletic department is anti-poly. That’s part of the reason I’m calling BS on the player strike.

Re: Uniform Question
I get tired of seeing most of our uniform combos on those “ugliest uniforms in college football” articles.
If we can’t get better uni’s, here’s a better identity for now. Crossing my fingers.
But I would also add gold into the color scheme which people here wouldn’t like.

Re: Uniform Question
Thanks justhidin! Did a search on the warrior stripe and Utah state and found a reference from a few years ago from ESPN. I like the stripe a whole lot more now!justhidin wrote: ↑January 2nd, 2021, 9:09 amIt’s called a “Warrior stripe”. It’s Polynesian. The arrow a must point forward. Re: Uniform Question
Do you know how many black head coaches there have been in the SEC, ever? Five.
But they're happy to lead black lives matter marches
and run commercials.
I bet one of them will put something on a uniform if they think it will help with recruiting.

I think they should stick to the basics, stop being fashionistas and study that playbook, EXECUTE & win. Reward them with being cute when they’re entertaining us again instead of causing migraines and stress!!!

Re: Uniform Question
I like the original re-design from 2012-2014 as well. Unless we are going to be like Oregon and have completely new uniforms for every single game, I wish we would stick with one uniform pattern.
Color combos I like:
HOME
Blue helmet, blue shirt, white pants.
White helmet, blue shirt, white pants.
Stormtrooper for the "whiteout" game.
ROAD
Blue helmet, white shirt, blue pants or the stormtrooper look.
Don't mind a special look once every couple of years.

Re: Uniform Question
I'm not crazy about the warrior stripe, but knowing that's what it is makes it cooler. It's way better than the Aggies down the leg, at least.
The original re-design with the leg stripe is the best uniform.

Re: Uniform Question
It's the pattern Porter Rockwell's men were wearing when they led the Mountain Meadow Massacre.
