Re: Who our are asisant coaches? Anyone heard
I am genuinely surprised by the lack of information to date. Usually Footballlscoop would have some info of at least candidates that are expected to go but this time around there is not much info at all. Must be covid related that things are just moving slower with ppl not being able to fly in and interview in person etc. that usually would give some information.

Can anyone provide a list of who we know is on the staff and their suspected responsibility and then the positions that are left to fill?

I also suspect that DJ Tialavea and Al Lapuaho have been retained.
Two names I am keeping an eye on are Kent Riddle Associate Head Coach/TE's at Boise State and Ray Brown CB's Coach at Troy.

I watched the movie "National Treasure" a few months ago. I was surprised/disappointed that it didn't seem to have anything to do with aggies22.

Would love to retain DJ and Big Al for that poly connection.
I also hope Cefalo can work some magic with our WR group. He did a bang up job at Arky State in that department. Any word on transfer or Hs wr recruits they are after?

I read somewhere that the wife of our potential strength coach (Jackson) is a winter Olympic hopeful in skeleton. Any chance that plays a factor in him possibly coming out to Utah?

Young guy but looks like he was a GA on Anderson’s staff at Arky State a few years back and also on UCF’s staff (w/ Anthony Tucker) for a bit prior to becoming a position coach at UMass. Anderson and Tucker both obviously familiar with him.TrueBlueAggie123 wrote:

Don't know anything about him other than his bio on the UMASS website. To be honest it would have been nice to bring in a O-line coach with more coaching experience. That being said, welcome Micah and I hope you are super successful with our O-line as they need a lot of help.AGGIEinIOWA wrote: ↑December 28th, 2020, 7:53 pmYoung guy but looks like he was a GA on Anderson’s staff at Arky State a few years back and also on UCF’s staff (w/ Anthony Tucker) for a bit prior to becoming a position coach at UMass. I don’t want to be a wet blanket, but this OL hire does not thrill me. UMASS is abysmal. One of maybe a handful of teams that was demonstrably worse than us. They scored 12 points this season, and one of those scores was a safety.

Re: Who are our assistant coaches? Anyone heard
Doesn't inspire much confidence...
"The Minutemen replaced offensive line coach Jim Jackson after their first game against Georgia Southern, promoting assistant Micah James to the position. Though major improvements didn’t occur after the coaching change, the move signals a philosophy shift that UMass hopes will have long term benefits. After all, the Minutemen have some experienced talent on the offensive line in Larnel Coleman and Dalton Tomlinson, though two decent players mean nothing when the unit cannot function effectively. Moving away from the dual-offensive line coach structure should provide some more consistency moving forward, and if UMass wants to become the hard-nosed team Bell says they want to be, consistency will be needed"

We didn't have too many td's this season as well, but still i think we could have done better. Re: Who are our assistant coaches? Anyone heard
nervous is how it should make us feel. To me O-line is the one position coach that has to be a home run hire. Running backs and tight ends you can get away with having first year coaches or less experienced coaches, but O-line you need to have someone with a lot more experience. Maybe it is just me being negative.splintorb wrote: ↑December 28th, 2020, 9:09 pmThat makes me extremely nervous...I...just dunno how I feel about this one.Aggie19 wrote: ↑December 28th, 2020, 9:00 pm4 games as a interim offensive line coach and a year as an assistant.... really nervous.Aggie84025 wrote: ↑December 28th, 2020, 8:55 pmWe didn't have too many td's this season as well, but still i think we could have done better. I was at the same time typing a post saying the same thing. I agree that you can go cheap with less experienced guys at running backs and tight ends, but need more experience, and at programs better than UMass, for O-line.Aggie84025 wrote: ↑December 28th, 2020, 9:12 pmnervous is how it should make us feel.
