MW Championship
San Jose is controlling this game so far - both sides of the ball. The Spartans look good. That coaching staff has done a phenomenal job in turning that program around.
Boise is a different team without Holani. Collectively, this is not a good of a team as Boise usually puts out there. That was evident when they played BYU. They are not as sharp this year.
As strange as it is to say, San jose state may be the mountain west conference champion.

Re: MW Championship
Would love to see SJSU win this thing.
Should give Anderson and our team a lot of hope and a template for winning.
Plus anything to knock Boise and Hardin down a peg works for me.

Re: MW Championship
The fact that SJSU is 6-0 and only ranked 24 is criminal. They very well might be better than Cincinnati or Costal Carolina and a lot of the higher ranked teams, but due to the brand name no one is taking them seriously.
The G5 Teams need to advocate for an eight team playoff with a spot for the top G5 or form our own league. I'm sick of the P5 Bias.

Re: MW Championship
If Cincy and Coastal lost in their championship game and San Jose won would they sneak into a NY6 game? Cause don’t you have to win your conference to make it. And they would be only undefeated G5 team.

Re: MW Championship
Well Tulsa is ahead of sjsu right now and you’d think a win vs Cincy would keep them ahead.ThunderAggie wrote: ↑December 19th, 2020, 4:22 pmIf Cincy and Coastal lost in their championship game and San Jose won would they sneak into a NY6 game? SJ showing some moxie after giving up that punt return TD with a nice drive, super pass for a TD and the 2-point conversion to go up 14

Re: MW Championship
Outstanding quarterback and tight end play on offense. It's so nice to see a team use multiple tight ends that can catch. And hats off to the SJSU defense.

Re: MW Championship
that 3rd and 7 then 4th and 7 with 3 minutes left was like a microcosm of the whole game for the SJ defense
big hit on the QB and receiver on 3rd down, then pursuit to the outside to keep the yardage minimalized.
Good for SJSU! Go Spartans!

The score could have and should have been much worse.

Re: MW Championship
Luckily, we have the easy rotation of conference games next year when we have SJSU on our schedule,

Re: MW Championship
I was listening to the Boise feed on SiriusXM and their announcers if anything thought that SJSU going for it was the right call since there was a better chance of Boise blocking the kick and returning it 90 yards than them driving down after a stop.

Re: MW Championship
Even if SJSU is just as good next year, we still have an easier rotation with Hawaii on the mainland where they suck even when they are good, and UNLV.

Re: MW Championship
Also, the Boise radio announcers were talking about the common denominator of their 2007 loss to Hawaii, their 2010 loss to Nevada, and this loss to San Jose, all being lone losses in series they otherwise dominate, is that those were Hawaii, Nevada and San Jose State's best teams ever. We are one team that was unable to beat them with our best team, but has been able to do it once with a team that was NOT our best team.

Re: MW Championship
I doubt SJSU can keep it going. They might be pretty good next year though. Kudos to them for being far and away the best MW team this year. Special season for them and shows you can dig yourself out of any rut and anyone can be the best. Good news for us considering where we are.

Re: MW Championship
I did hear that several conferences have reached out to Harstin after the game with invites. The rumors are that the Big Sky and the Sunbelt are very interested. ::

Re: MW Championship
The San Jose State win is a result of creative aggressive play calling on both sides of the ball, bringing in an experienced 4* transfer QB, using your TE on offense and controlling the line of scrimmage both ways.

Re: MW Championship
I don’t think that will necessarily be true. ESPN is projecting a matchup for the Donks against UTSA in the First Responsers Bowl where as San Jose is projected to play Buffalo in the Arizona Bowl, which is better in my opinion.usu99 wrote:And for beating Boise they get a worse bowl game than Boise... go figure.

In December would take Tucson any day of the week over Dallas. Tucson is wonderful in the winter.AGGIEinIOWA wrote: ↑December 20th, 2020, 10:16 amI don’t think that will necessarily be true.
