Recruiting:Florida + SE
One reason this new staff is so exciting is their ties to the Southeast and the sunshine state for recruiting. We seem to hit more than we miss with players from Florida. I am excited at the prospect of getting more guys from that part of the country here. Notable contributors we've had from there:
Nevin Lawson
Rashard Stewart
Tavaris McMillian
JoJo Natson
Quinton Bird
Travis Reynolds
Daniel Gray
Tyler Floyd
LaJuan Hunt
Aaron Wade
DeVonte Robinson
Jaren Colston-Green
Gerold Bright
Rayshad Lewis
Ron'Quavion Tarver
Zahodri Jackson
Henry Colombi (sheds tear)
Deven Thompkins
Devantae Henry-Cole
Justin McGriff
There are others who didn't make notable contributions, but that number is pretty small.

With the UCF guy coming as our OC and the Miami guy coming as our DC, I think we are going to hit Florida HARD. Which, I think is fantastic news because Florida has an abundance of riches.

And with Chuckie and Anderson from Texas, we should be able to extract some talent from those hotbeds.
We still need someone with California connections and Poly connections.
I did like a lot of the players that Collins was able to pull out of the Northwest too. Hopefully we can maintain a connection up there.

WR Coach Kyle Cefalo is also good recruiter in Texas.AGGIEinIOWA wrote: ↑December 18th, 2020, 10:41 amAnd with Chuckie and Anderson from Texas, we should be able to extract some talent from those hotbeds.

I think getting Kyle Cefalo here for the same position that he was working at AState is kind of a coup. I guess we can pay a bit more with the increase in assistant salaries though.

Watching Arkansas State one of their strongest areas has been WR having some of the best in the country. I'm very glad they are bringing him out here because we need good WR recruiting.

I do worry about that actually. Getting players on campus is one thing, keeping them out of the transfer portal in the new era of college football is another. You basically have to recruit guys twice now. Recruit them to your school and recruit them to stay with you.

That's why I think an enterprising coach could go a long way with a transfer centric recruiting model like I put in this earlier thread.

Close to San Marcos I believe. I hear amongst other things that it has great music and a beautiful river flowing through it
