Anderson Coordinators/Other Assistants & Staff
Let's put together a different thread for coaching hire news/rumors/speculations.
Three categories: Who gets retained? Who are the coordinators? Who are the position coaches and other staffers?

Kyle Cefalo. We want him.
Nick Paremski...
Apparently both can recruit.

Kyle Cefalo: $90,000 (base) $91,100 (other compensation) $11,250 (max bonus) $1,183,300 (total (I can't express myself without swearing)'t salaries)
Nick Paremski: Same salary

Re: Anderson Coordinators/Other Assistants & Staff
so I don't have to go do research, what are their respective position responsibilities as a coach?
Re: Anderson Coordinators/Other Assistants & Staff
Cefalo is the receiver's coach. He played at Colorado and was a GA in Recruiting at Boise.sammyhagar wrote: ↑December 10th, 2020, 3:00 pmso I don't have to go do research, what are their respective position responsibilities as a coach?

I wish we could pull away Cort Dennison, Louisville’s DC. He is from Salt Lake, and has been a lb coach at Louisville and Oregon. Back to Louisville as DC. Only 30, but rated one of the best recruiters nationally, and a great football mind.
Problem is, it would be a big pay cut. But he would be my choice.

Anderson Coordinators/Other Assistants & Staff
Would Kent Baer come back as DC or even a position coach? Would we want him at age 69? Some on here speak pretty highly of him and it may help to have a few Aggies on staff.

Can we get Anthony Calvillo as either OC or maybe QB coach and passing game coordinator?

Re: Anderson Coordinators/Other Assistants & Staff
I know I am likely in the Minority here but I would love to have Frank be the DC. He has never been a true DC here (only co) and Collins has been calling plays since he took over and maybe even before. He also knows the scheme that works and players to recruit to that scheme that has helped us be very successful on defense over the years. He is also Poly and a good recruiter and would allow us to keep a lot of our current players. I realize this is a long shot but I think it would help our current situation a lot.

USU used to be able to defend Air Force. The last 4-5 seasons they've lit us up.Elkaggie wrote: ↑December 10th, 2020, 3:49 pmI know I am likely in the Minority here but I would love to have Frank be the DC. Uh... I guess it depends on how you look at it. Is moving from FCS to FBS for a significant pay increase and coaching in a different capacity a demotion? I wouldn’t see it that way.2004AG wrote:Because why would someone take a voluntary demotion?CaptainChaos wrote: ↑December 10th, 2020, 3:41 pmWhy not Jay Hill as DC or STC?

Re: Anderson Coordinators/Other Assistants & Staff
I'd like Frank to stay as a position coach (not likely to happen) and Collins as a position coach and special teams.
I don't know enough about other teams assistants to have any guess on possible coordinators.

I don't mind a clean slate but I hope he is counselled strongly by Hartwell that he needs to have some dudes on staff that can recruit poly's, Utah, and LDS to help mix in with some great out-of-state recruits that hopefully he can pull from Texas/CA/Florida/etc.

Re: Anderson Coordinators/Other Assistants & Staff
Why wouldn’t it be? I see that Jay is listed at 180k and Maile makes 235k I know Jay is at the very top of what he could earn, but I’m not sure about what else we could offer at or above Mailes salary. I guess we can disagree again on what is a significant pay increase, but I’d call 30+% pretty significant.2004AG wrote:It wouldn't be a pay increase though, and certainly not a "significant" one.CaptainChaos wrote: ↑December 10th, 2020, 4:05 pmUh... Re: Anderson Coordinators/Other Assistants & Staff
Is there any chance we could get a recently fired HC like Derek Mason at Vandy for DC?
He didn't do well as HC at Vandy (who does...he did go to 2 bowls in 7 years), but coached at Utah, Idaho State, and Weber years ago. Was Stanford DC prior to getting the Vandy job.

I think if Jay Hill leaves his FCS HC position for an FBS coordinator position it will be for a P5 team.

Well he doesn't make 180k. He makes $278k and has other benefits like country club membership and free vehicles. And he's the head man who can run his own program. He's not gonna take a demotion.

He's the WR coach at Kentucky. No way we could get him for anything less than OC. He's got quite a few years of experience at this point (mostly with USU) and I wouldn't hate giving him a shot.OrangeCountyAggie wrote: ↑December 10th, 2020, 4:50 pmPlease, please can we bring back JOVON BOUKNIGHT in some capacity? Re: Anderson Coordinators/Other Assistants & Staff
I think Maile struggles to adjust as a coordinator. I might be wrong. The AFA game was too much for me. That is too basic. If he really did have his corners on pitch he never adjusted to their deep positioning and being blocked. And defending the triple is like kindergarten D coordinator stuff as far as adjustments that can be made. They don't always work depending on personell but we never even tried.Elkaggie wrote: ↑December 10th, 2020, 3:49 pmI know I am likely in the Minority here but I would love to have Frank be the DC. The Fresno and Nevada games with sticking with 3 man rushes and confused and incomprehensible 8 man coverage in the secondary was just as bad. Maybe Frank wasn't calling it in his new role but he still should have set it straight in both games.

So he’s not coming here- that’s fine. You’re wrong on the salaries though my dude and I completely disagree that it would be a demotion. I think you discredit USU by saying so.2004AG wrote:CaptainChaos wrote: ↑December 10th, 2020, 4:33 pmWhy wouldn’t it be? Not assistant but I've got a very reliable person saying QB Logan Bonner intends to talk to Blake about coming to Logan. Remember when looking at his stats, he was playing with a partially torn thumb ligament that tore completely in 2019 requiring same surgery Drew Brees had. In 2020 he alternated possessions with Hatcher.
Incredibly nice young man. Loved interviewing him.
