Magalei and Warren officially in transfer portal
What an odd year. I hope the new HC can bring in some high quality transfers to stem some of the bleeding.

Re: Malagei and Warren officially in transfer portal
Warren will go and be injured 50% of the time on someone else's roster. I loved his potential, but not heart broken. I don't see how the little schools survive this age of the transfer portal though.

This has to happen for us to be successful moving forward and interest from transfers is already picking up.Madmartigan wrote: ↑November 30th, 2020, 9:47 amWhat an odd year. I hope the new HC can bring in some high quality transfers to stem some of the bleeding.

I won't be shocked when Jaylen lands at either school or even Weber State. Just a guess but I see him staying here in Utah.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑November 30th, 2020, 10:00 amWish them both luck in the future unless they transfer to BYU or Utah.

I think a small school like ours will benefit from P5 athletes that aren't getting on the field, more than it will hurt us. I actually think this levels the playing field a little bit.hipsterdoofus21 wrote: ↑November 30th, 2020, 9:50 amWarren will go and be injured 50% of the time on someone else's roster. What is Magalie's situation? He showed a lot of promise has he even seen the field this year?

So it's Chico then? My exact sentiments. He was really, really fun to watch and showed a lot of promise. Unfortunately, he was always injured.hipsterdoofus21 wrote: ↑November 30th, 2020, 9:50 amWarren will go and be injured 50% of the time on someone else's roster. I would be fairly surprised if he transferred to Utah. There is little, to no chance, he becomes a featured back and would most likely be a situational back. The only way I see him at Utah is if 1 or more transfer outaggies22 wrote: ↑November 30th, 2020, 10:02 amI won't be shocked when Jaylen lands at either school.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑November 30th, 2020, 10:00 amWish them both luck in the future unless they transfer to BYU or Utah.

Two guys that were injured most of the time. They are both really good guys, and I wish them luck regardless of where they go.

That freshman back #22 is impressive. He needs more touches if he gets his fumbling problems solved.UtesAggs>BYU wrote: ↑November 30th, 2020, 10:22 amI would be fairly surprised if he transferred to Utah. Prediction: neither one will transfer up. Either another g5 or fcs. Magalei is almost a lock for fcs since he hasn’t played. Warren will not get a scholarship at a p5 due to his injury issues.

Re: Malagei and Warren officially in transfer portal
#2 Gentry? or #29 Makakona? I keep waiting for Gentry to play a bigger role but he's still relegated to 1-2 touches a game if he's lucky. At this point I would like to see us use Noa and Gentry equally to compliment DHC. Makakona doesn't look the part but it's hard to argue with his production in limited runs.Madmartigan wrote: ↑November 30th, 2020, 10:42 amThat freshman back #22 is impressive. Re: Malagei and Warren officially in transfer portal
As pointed below he is referencing Utah's freshman RB Ty Jordan. He flipped from Texas last year and is the first RB that I can remember with true home run potential anytime he touches the ball. Interestingly, I think he is what Utah coaches hoped DHC could be...a change of pace back with explosiveness in the running and passing game. I actually think Gentry has many of the same similarities as he was on Utah's radar before Jordan was a serious optionAglicious wrote: ↑November 30th, 2020, 10:58 am#2 Gentry? or #29 Makakona? This is a great point and I agree completely. This attrition makes room for players who want to be here under our incoming coach.aggies22 wrote: ↑November 30th, 2020, 9:56 amThis has to happen for us to be successful moving forward and interest from transfers is already picking up.Madmartigan wrote: ↑November 30th, 2020, 9:47 amWhat an odd year. Re: Magalei and Warren officially in transfer portal
I don’t know much about Magalie other than I thought he would eventually be really good. I don’t blame Warren if he wants to stay healthy in order to play next season. Especially with the troubles he’s had with injuries. I love what FM said today in his presser. You can’t sit on the fence. I love his no BS attitude.

Re: Magalei and Warren officially in transfer portal
So if Warren is routinely being injured, is a solution found in the Strength and Conditioning protocol, or is he just brittle? Nothing wrong with his courage to carry the ball, yet he has a history of injuries.
Re: Magalei and Warren officially in transfer portal
I think some of Warren's health issues is his running style. He doesn't shy away from contact. He takes a pounding and it begins to add up.

Re: Magalei and Warren officially in transfer portal
Exactly this. He runs with such violence that he gives and takes lots of big hits that add up to take a toll on his body. He also fights for every last inch on every carry which sometimes puts added stress on his joints.
While he's fairly stout, he is not Derrick Henry out there with incredible size and weight to withstand that kind of beating game in and game out.

Re: Malagei and Warren officially in transfer portal
Except the best small schools have programs built on strong recruiting classes year after year that almost entirely stick around for 4 years. Yes sprinkling in P5 transfers can be a plus in those situations but yearly shuffling of the players’ deck for small schools makes building a program almost impossible.Sl7vk wrote: ↑November 30th, 2020, 10:04 amI think a small school like ours will benefit from P5 athletes that aren't getting on the field, more than it will hurt us. I believe Oklahoma state recruits snow. So he probably has some connections. Although I’d be surprised if they had a scholarship.

I question the wiseness of this one. How many teams are looking for a transfer punter?
I get that he is the backup punter and that's not a particularly glamorous position, but I'd be surprised if he got picked up.
