2 - 3 Deep & OC - Going Forward

Post by Lonely Cowboy » November 28th, 2020, 7:56 pm

Are things clear with our depth chart now for our remaining games? (Solid team performance Thanksgiving night!)

22 & Roy - you seem to be on different pages with the OC position.

Love coach Frank.

I think Dave Schramm will call the plays for the remainder of the season.

22 - do you have a feel for our depth now? Or is it all up in the air?

So is Reeder gone then? Or just relieved of play calling duties?

Sounds like he’s a long hauler whose symptoms will last through the season and suddenly get better

Tania - I sent a reply to your post, asking your thoughts. It doesn't appear it was published.

Roy - I replied to this post in general asking about both offensive and defensive assignments. It's not posted here.

Okay - really odd...I still think my originally posts were hidden/erased...

22 & other members - I was curious about our general offensive scheme going into the Air Force game. They are very disciplined, both on offense and defense.

We seemed to have an offensive scheme that worked well against NMU. How much of an adjustment is it from this plan to accommodate for the AFA? Can we get pass coverages over the middle with these guys? How much do we need to run it hard against their forward defensive front? DHC is is good for this?

On defense - we obviously need to play sound gap and seam protections. Is our D-front/LB corp ready for this challenge? Play after play? Then don't give up a cheap over the middle pass play? Young Maile ready for another solid performance?

I think this is what I asked about in my earlier emails. (?)

Thanks.

NM had a lot of success last game running the option/QB run. I’m not sure our Dline especially with Moore likely out is good enough to stop the dive play nor is our LB Corp fast enough to get to the edge consistently. We will have to win the TO battle and put up a bunch of points to win (obviously).

Don't know if it will help, but we are much more athletic at LB now than earlier in the year with the personnel changes.

Could it be a PEBCAK error?

But in all seriousness, as a former mod I can tell you that the mods here aren't very aggressive in their moderation and when they take action they let people know what they did and why. If you don't have a private message from a mod, I think something else happened.

Yes - more likely than not. :-) I did hit the "submit" button after each of my replies. But I'll be the first to confirm I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed.

"PEBCAK is technical support shorthand (slang) for "Problem Exists between Chair and Keyboard". Generally this term is used by technical support personnel to describe a problem that was caused by the computer user as opposed to a technical problem with the physical computer equipment."

I expect the Air Force game is going to be very, very ugly. USU will need over 40 points to have a chance.

It could be ugly, but can’t be any uglier than last year, righy? I don’t think AFA is near the team they were last year.

We're worse than last year as well. Don't have J Love, Bright, Siaosi Mariner, etc.

That said, how lopsided the final score is will depend on if our offense at least moves the ball when we don't score. I do think our offense can move the ball on their defense, but am dreading what their offense will do to our defense. Air Force's style of play does keep ugly games in their favor from getting too ugly on the scoreboard, but also makes harder to come back if we're down a couple scores but still in it.

I think we will need a couple big special teams plays like last week and win the turnover battle.

And that won't be likely. Other than the Boise State game, Air Force has played very good defense this year. Loved the game on Thanksgiving, but this will be a different animal.

I expect the Air Force game is going to be very, very ugly. USU will need over 40 points to have a chance.
And that won't be likely. Other than the Boise State game, Air Force has played very good defense this year. Loved the game on Thanksgiving, but this will be a different animal.

Meh... Air force is nothing great. I have watch them play 3 times. And 100% honesty for 3 quarters of the Navy game that was worst D1 game I have ever seen. Ever. Including the early 2000's here.

They aren't anything special, but have you forgot what we are this year? Loved the game on Thanksgiving. That 3rd quarter was the most fun watching Aggie football since 2018, but it was New Mexico. Air Force shut out New Mexico. They also held undefeated San Jose State to their worst offensive game of the season on top of shutting down Navy. I don't have any expectations of victory against Air Force.

I am not saying we will win.. I am just saying. In that game. For 3 quarters they looked like a bad JC team. It was terrible football. The only reason no one scored much in the 1st half was neither team could line up right or run a play right

Those were some dark times. Being ranked #1 in the bottom ten was where we usually started every season.
