There's no QB race. Jason Shelley knew he was going to be the starter when he transferred to USU.

Yep, the quarterback race ended when Shelley arrived on campus.

Careful, you're asking for trouble. People around here don't take kindly to that fact.

Pure speculation on my part, but I think Coach A was not shaken about Henry leaving because Peasley is his guy. Listen to some of his recent interviews, the hints are there.

It has never felt to me like Coach A has played favorites. I did get that feeling with Wells. I agree, I don't think he was shaken because he likes both Shelley and Peasley.

You never tell a kid you are the starter when recruiting him, but Shelley has the most experience, and most likely should be the starter, but Peasley will be in waiting, and if Shelley slips in the practice or games he would be replaced in a hurry..

How do you define a hurry? I'm sure if he is bad over several games, he'll get pulled, but I doubt we are talking a bad half or a few interceptions here.

Pretty sure they will share the starting job. One may get more game play than the other but each has different strengths and will be used actively. We’ll see soon

If you have two QB's, you actually don't have one.

With Covid, if you have 1 qb you have 0.

Covid is no different than any other injury.

Point being is you need someone to take command of the huddle. Players need to know who to follow and rally behind. Linemen need to know how to block as per the QB’s skill set. Etc.

Almost always a bad move to have 2 QBs. I guess it can work though. See the Saints with Brees + Taysum.

That isn't an example of 2 quarterbacks. Tayom Hill threw 6 total passes during the 2019 season and threw once in the opener this year. He comes in for a few runs, but isn't their quarterback. Even when Brees got hurt, they had Teddy Bridgewater start.
Nobody would question whose team it is.

Unless Shelley is underwhelming, it will be his team next year. If Peasley is better, he'll be the starter.

...you’re implying 2 QBs means equal reps between the two. I think differently than you on this. IF they do a 2 QB system, I’d wager Shelley takes the bulk of the snaps and Peasley comes in a la Taysum.

If that is how you view a 2 qb system I'd be fine with that. It will be Shelley's team unless he bombs and if Peasley can come in for a play here and there in certain sets and be effective, than ok. Florida won a national title with Chris Leak starting and Tebow coming in for a few set plays that fit his skillset.

Having 2 guys fight for the job all season in most cases is a negative and would be here. It certainly would mean Shelley isn't as good as most of us are expecting including the coaches.
