Will PAC-12 follow suit? Seems like we are more likely to copy cat the PAC-12 than the Big Ten

I agree. The interesting thing will be to see if the MAC follows the big 10. Same geographical footprint And g5.AGGIEinIOWA wrote: ↑September 16th, 2020, 9:59 amWill PAC-12 follow suit? Seems like we are more likely to copy cat the PAC-12 than the Big Ten

As you pointed out with the fires, California is having their issues with air quality on top of the coronavirus. There is an Unhealthy Air Quality warning in LA. The only hope for football is if it is makes exceptions and allows some of the schools to play even while others can't.AGGIEinIOWA wrote: ↑September 16th, 2020, 9:59 amWill PAC-12 follow suit? Re: Your Turn Mtn West
I don't see it happening in the PAC 12 and MWC. Too many shut down states in the two conferences. This is why it would have been good for the coaches to make a statement how disappointed they were that they canceled the season and question the reasoning. Another problem that both conferences gave is the priveledged players movement. Spring football is not an option.

Re: Your Turn Mtn West
I give credit to coach Arroyo for at least being vocal about wanting his team the opportunity to play. If all the coaches would put pressure (maybe they are I just don't see it) we may be able to help convince them to adjust courses.

What is your opinion ViAggie on how this plays out? Also, don't you live in SoCal? Hope you and your family are safe with the fires in the area.

The pressure will be to great to ignore by the PAC-12. I think they follow suit and we jump to, but it's just a guess at this point. I don't see any political pressure from the State of Ca stopping the PAC either.Aggie formerly in Hawaii wrote: ↑September 16th, 2020, 12:36 pmWhat is your opinion ViAggie on how this plays out? As for fires, thank you, luckily for us, the closest fire was that stupid Gender Reveal fire (El Dorado) which is about an hour away from us northeast (Yucaipa), and that fire is burning due north. So not so much smoke down here (still bad enough to give me a cough though).

You think?
I'm still not convinced they can salvage something this fall with such a late start and no real (announced) plan.

Yeah I have my doubts. The odds of the California schools playing this year is next to nothing. Would love for there to be a season with the western schools though.

No this is the not SEC's problem. There are lots of other conferences that are making it work. Sure there are some outbreaks, but if this is the darkest day in the BIG 10 I call BS. Football while not the most important thing for sure means a lot to many people throughout this great land. For me it certainly soothes some of the pain and redundancy of this life.

Awesome let's get it done. I wonder if Oregon and Washington will follow suit. I would guess that in order for MW to play they would need the PAC12 to play as well. In order for the PAC12 to play they will need Cali, Oregon and Washington on board. Sounds like we may just need Oregon and Washington to join.Aggie formerly in Hawaii wrote: ↑September 16th, 2020, 1:55 pmThat is good news. Yeah California is the key, but with or without. I do wonder about individual schools opting out and that is still my question with how this works. If the California schools and Hawaii are a no go, we should still be able to play on and if that is the case, why couldn't we have done that from the beginning?slcagg wrote: ↑September 16th, 2020, 2:02 pmI don’t think so if California just they are good wirh it. Hawaii is certainly the iffy one that I could see balking, unless they are willing to play exclusively on the mainland that is.

Re: Your Turn Mtn West
Politicians always use half truths. Of course they can play and "practice" but they cannot practice in groups larger than 12 people. Until he rolls that back, can't really practice. Also a reminder that this is the same Gavin Newsom that closed down bars in the state except for the county in which he owns and operates a bar.... just sayintaniataylor wrote: ↑September 16th, 2020, 1:53 pmGov Newsome just sd, right now that Calif is in alignment with the NCAA in regards to Fall sports and are enforcing only safety guidelines - it is now completely up to the PAC12 - LET THERE BE FOOTBALL

Yeah with the travel restrictions and lockdowns that have taken place over there, good luck.
Of course I fully doubted California opening up and playing and now we may actually see California schools play, so who knows? The conference does need to let the teams that are willing to play, play even if a few are unable or opt out.

Hawaii that where it gets difficult to not throw politics into this. At least for me. People that have said cancelling MW football is related to national elections should either post that stuff in the sandbox, or show proof. Or at least I'll give my opinion that is what they should do. I'm not a mod, so they can obvious do what they want.
