Utah High School football on ESPN
Flipping through the channels I see Corner Canyon and Bingham playing on ESPN. Anyone else watching this? A lot of talk about BYU since I started watching.
Corner Canyon has a good looking QB.

Are all fans welcome to hs games in Utah? The high school near me played last night and I think only parents were allowed. But I’m glad the kids are getting to play.

They only hand out limited tickets the week before the game and attendance is capped and masks are mandatory.

High school football is going pretty smooth. No reason the MW could not have figured this out.

Re: Utah High School football on ESPN
Corner Canyons QB lives (or lived) in Kaysville (or somewhere close to it), went to Roy High for several years (not in Kaysville boundaries), and ends up transferring to Corner Canyon for his senior year. The rich just get richer. In 6A, you are either a have our a have not. My good friend is the head coach at Ben Lomand and he has several kids in his boundary that do not attend Ben Lomand. It’s almost getting to a point of needing to separate schools from the recruiting schools from the non-recruiting schools. Kinda sucks.

I agree in my opinion you should have to live in the school boundaries to play at the school.FeartheFro wrote: ↑August 29th, 2020, 12:16 pmCorner Canyons QB lives (or lived) in Kaysville (or somewhere close to it), went to Roy High for several years (not in Kaysville boundaries), and ends up transferring to Corner Canyon for his senior year. I guess turnabout is fair play. Freddy has done it to others everywhere he’s been.

He and Grisby were my coaches in fall of 91. Loved playing for both of them. Glad Freddy is still at it.

This isn't the case in Logan. Masks required but no cap on attendance from my understanding.2004AG wrote:Noslcagg wrote:Are all fans welcome to hs games in Utah? The high school near me played last night and I think only parents were allowed. But I’m glad the kids are getting to play.

In Cache County, they require masks to enter, but everyone takes them off in the stands with no enforcement.

That's what Ben Lomond gets for stealing Emmit White from us back in the day.FeartheFro wrote: ↑August 29th, 2020, 12:16 pmCorner Canyons QB lives (or lived) in Kaysville (or somewhere close to it), went to Roy High for several years (not in Kaysville boundaries), and ends up transferring to Corner Canyon for his senior year. Number 1 qb target right now? I think he is the top qb in the state? I’ve wondered why we hadn’t offered him. Know BYU is after him.

How good was Emmit Smith at Utah state. Man I loved him. Didn’t know about him in high school, I’m guessing he was tremendous.hipsterdoofus21 wrote:That's what Ben Lomond gets for stealing Emmit White from us back in the day.FeartheFro wrote: ↑August 29th, 2020, 12:16 pmCorner Canyons QB lives (or lived) in Kaysville (or somewhere close to it), went to Roy High for several years (not in Kaysville boundaries), and ends up transferring to Corner Canyon for his senior year. Re: Utah High School football on ESPN
I would put at a low probability as we buried the last Kjar coached qb that played at Utah State.

Gotcha. Another Jordan kid. That was a good 12 or so years ago. Thanks for reminding me my Aggie brother!

Re: Utah High School football on ESPN
When is Eric Kjar going to move to a college OC? He's been dominating the state for a decade now. He turned Jordan into a power house, left to Corner Canyon and now they're a powerhouse and Jordan is one of the worst teams in the state.

Did you see our commit from Bingham play at all (dline Maile)?

Re: Utah High School football on ESPN
I did. Maille played well - he has a frame that can put on some more weight/muscle.
The commentators talked a lot about Corner Canyon's center - an Oregon commit. Bingham had a tackle on their O-line that is highly recruited (I think a U of U guy) and he looked good. Corner Canyon's QB played a very good game. He can run and throw - good arm on the out routes and the downfield routes. They said he was a 3-star guy with a few offers, including BYU. They said they would not be surprised if his recruiting picked up quite a bit with his performance on national TV. He has played very well through 3 games.
I forgot to mention:
Corner Canyon has a wide receiver that will go down as one of the top receivers in the state's history as far as receiving yards. He is getting interest from USU but I'm not sure if they offered.

Re: Utah High School football on ESPN
The O-lineman from Bingham is George Maile, he DOES have an offer from us. He is a junior and the younger brother of Bo, who is our commit. The WR at Corner Canyon is Noah Kjar. We have NOT offered him.Yossarian wrote: ↑August 31st, 2020, 12:57 pmI did. Maille played well - he has a frame that can put on some more weight/muscle.

I have a friend in Pittsburgh PA who texted me that he was watching that game. I guess when there is nothing you'll turn to anything!
