Who you got
Since our conference canceled way too much early , who becomes your primary team to cheer for in college football?
As for me, ROLL TIDE! Opened camp and it was great to watch some video from practice.

I’ll be cheering for Maple Mountain High. Nobody else worth my time at this point, especially any teams from the fetching SEC.

Re: Who you got
It'd be BEHS, but they are apparently sucky this season, despite that huge QB of theirs Andy just picked up, as they got thumped pretty good by Kearns. Kearns. Kearns? Really? Kearns?
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Watched a little bit if the first half. He's got a nice pocket presence. Seemed really strong. Couldn't get much done, though.
Against Kearns. Kearns. Kearns? Really? Kearns?

Kearns has a few D-1 guys on their team this year. Including one that is headed to a P5 and another that is likely coming here.

Blue mountain state. Geaux Mountain Goats. As much as I hate the SEC, I think I hate the Big 12 more. Or at least the same. I'll be cheering for Auburn. I've enjoyed their fans and enjoyed their team.

Re: Who you got
I've been an Auburn fan for a little while now. The year we played at Tennessee we went to take stadium pictures. We hung around a week and shot the Auburn stadium the next week. We had sideline passes to both games and both were amazing! Auburn is a little town of 25k. When school is in it doubles the population. Super cool place, super nice people and amazing food. Now Alabama, when we tried to get permission to shoot their stadium... what a bunch of pricks is all I will say. I cheer for Auburn every year in the Iron Bowl.

I went to the Florida-Tennessee game last year. Florida dominated and it was a really fun atmosphere. However it is hard for me to cheer for Brian Johnson. 58-10 in 2008 still stings in my brain.

Re: Who you got
Everyone else is going to cancel too. Just watch.
But if not, I really don’t at all see the point of moving forward with a football season with the number of conferences that have hung it up already. What are you playing for? There will be no true national champion with at least two P5 leagues not participating. There will likely be no bowl games. What in the hell is the point? The opportunity to win a conference championship in front of empty or mostly empty stadiums? That’s a hard pass from me.
College football without ALL of college football is just sad and pointless. I don’t anticipate I will be watching any football this fall if any is actually played. Interest level is a big fat zero without our Ags and without any real point to having a season.
I think the remaining conferences are going to decide that football for the sake of football with no real end goal is not worth COVID-related liability risk.
I will spend my fall hoping to high hell that the NCAA gets a plan in place so that we can have some form of college basketball and not have to go two years without my favorite sporting event — the NCAA Tournament.

Re: Who you got
Yes, because as we know there is no deciding a national champion without input from the Big 10. Never mind that they didn't have a participant in the 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019 seasons' editions of the national championship game. Pac-12 is similarly unimportant when it comes to picking a national champ, especially since the CFP started.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑August 18th, 2020, 11:01 pmEveryone else is going to cancel too. The Southern United States produce the vast majority of football talent in the country, and they also win most of the national championships. It's been this way for decades now, sorry if this is news to you.

Re: Who you got
And if that is the argument, what are we playing for? If being national champs is the only thing that matters we have never played for anything at least in modern times because even if we go undefeated we wouldn't go to the playoff. Winning your conference, beating your rivals and winning as many games as you can is what you play for.YoungBloodAggie wrote: ↑August 19th, 2020, 8:03 amYes, because as we know there is no deciding a national champion without input from the Big 10. Re: Who you got
I never said that it wasn't worth playing if you weren't going to be in the national championship discussion. My argument is that if you are trying to crown a national champ, you don't typically need the input of anyone north of the Mason-Dixon Line or west of Texas.Aggie formerly in Hawaii wrote: ↑August 19th, 2020, 8:09 amAnd if that is the argument, what are we playing for? Speaking of MMH, once upon a time when I was connected to that area, I lobbied Nebo to call it Sierra Bonita HS, which had a more historic connection to the area, they said no, but we'll give that name to a new Elementary school planned near by. Oh well.FL350Aggie wrote: ↑August 18th, 2020, 5:27 pm

Full disclosure — I am basketball fan that happens to watch football only because USU fields a team. I’m not particularly fond of football outside of USU football.YoungBloodAggie wrote: ↑August 19th, 2020, 8:03 amYes, because as we know there is no deciding a national champion without input from the Big 10.
The Southern United States produce the vast majority of football talent in the country, and they also win most of the national championships. It's been this way for decades now, sorry if this is news to you.
But let’s not pretend there’s not going to be a big fat caveat next to any team crowned “champion” this year.

Re: Who you got
Not having Ohio State play is definitely going to put an asterisk to whoever is the best team by many people. 247Sports.com has Ohio State as the preseason number 1 ranked team. Phil Steele who is usually pretty accurate with his preseason magazine has Ohio State as his number 1 team. You can see why Justin Fields, Shaun Wade and others are so mad about the season being cancelled. Obviously they want to play as college athletes, but on top of that they might have had a national title taken away from them by corona.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑August 19th, 2020, 9:30 pmFull disclosure — I am basketball fan that happens to watch football only because USU fields a team. It is what it is though. College football has never been fair when it comes to declaring a national title. Undefeated teams have constantly been screwed through the years. Sad for the Buckeye players though who didn't even get the chance to go for it.
