Mike Leach
First game with Mississippi st and they beat lsu by 10 and his qb passes for 600+ yards. Now lsu is no where near the team they were last year but still impressive.

Why is he a piece of (I can't express myself without swearing)? I don’t know the story here. He’s always seemed really quirky and likeable to me.

I think your right on the Covid deal. First it makes it easier to win on the road. Second someone like va tech had like 23 players out this week.

Re: Mike Leach
Leach is a great coach no doubt. He really sold me with what he did at Wazzu. That might be the toughest job in the P5 and he had consistent success there and was a whisker away from winning the conference in 2018. Even Mike Price didn't have sustained success in Pullman. He went to two Rose Bowls, but he also had a 3-21 stretch in Pac play in between those Rose Bowls and had an overall losing record in the Pac. It will be interesting to see what Mike Leach does in the SEC.
As you say though, LSU is nowhere near the team they were last year. LSU lost a ton! Only 8 returning starters and lost 13 guys to the NFL. They also lost Aggie great Dave Aranda on to Baylor and Joe Brady who completely changed their offense and helped make Burrows a #1 pick. LSU is probably going to be pretty average this year. This is a good win for Miss State, but it isn't the transcendent program changing win some people are making it out to be.

Ah. Was not aware of this. My hope and assumption is that this was based on ignorance, but regardless not a good look for a head football coach, especially in Mississippi. Gotta think that one through before hitting “send.”Sl7vk wrote: ↑September 26th, 2020, 8:51 pmHe has a history of racist takes. It sounds like he also once locked a player in like an equipment closet for hours because he reported a concussion?

He was making a joke about marriage and being with your wife 24/7 during the quarantine when it first happened. Wasn’t meant to be racist but it wasn’t a smart thing to post.Sl7vk wrote:Leach is a giant pos that is amazing at his job.

A lot of people think that was Craig James throwing a hissy fit that his son wasn’t getting playing time. Who knows.Sl7vk wrote:Let's also not forget about how he lost his job at Texas Tech.seabass wrote: ↑September 28th, 2020, 2:47 pmHe was making a joke about marriage and being with your wife 24/7 during the quarantine when it first happened. Had no idea Leach was a zoob until I looked at his wiki page.
Guy does make for some good theater though.

Re: Mike Leach
And a catastrophic loss against Arkansas tonight. I think that’s Arkansas’s first SEC win in 20 games?

Re: Mike Leach
Yeah that’s bad. But Arkansas could be improved this year. They gave georgia a good run last week which many thought It was more of a sign of Georgia not being as good this year (qb issues). But then last I checked georgia was beating the heck out of Auburn this evening.
But yeah still a bad loss following up the win last week. Although lsu is no where near as good as they were last year.

But CFB has been a blast! Unpredictable to the max! Iowa State about to beat Oklahoma!

Re: Mike Leach
Yeah it’s great. Another thing that is great for the watching experience is starting to see some fans in the stands (not arguing Covid). Makes the games a little more fun rather than what seems like a glorified scrimmage.Sl7vk wrote: ↑October 3rd, 2020, 9:18 pmThis year has been a nightmare.slcagg wrote: ↑October 3rd, 2020, 9:07 pmYeah that’s bad. Thus far it seems like you have Alabama and Clemson.

Re: Mike Leach
To be fair- Arkansas was eventually going to win an sec game. The sec team they beat would likely be a lower or middle tier team in the SEC West.
But I do love Mike Leach quotes.
Whether he’s gaming out a war between PAC-12 mascots or talking about fat little girlfriends- say what you will, but are you not entertained?

Re: Mike Leach
Yeah that was bad. He'll probably get to his standard 9-4 type seasons where his teams put up a ton of points, but like at Wazzu he has some serious work to do.
