MWC going to all conference games ?

Post by MWCFAN12 » July 10th, 2020, 1:28 am

It is starting to seem like the MW is going to go to all conference games only... If they push back to Oct 1st as opening kick 1 by week and MW championship we could be back on schedule before Christmas.

Do you like I idea of keeping normal time line and dumping OCG to stay on track ?

Delay start full season go into spring ?

And if... IF all p-5 g -5 conferences go conference only... Would that mean ( please dear .....oh please) that byu would end up playing new Mexico state, liberty, and Uconn in a 6 game home and home deal?

Should the MW bail out byu ? Cause they are kind of up sh#/ creek right now.

Regarding the last question - NO! Definitely do not help out BYU!

BYU deserves to be in whatever creek they find themselves in. They have screwed over many over the years, now they are finding that Karma is a bit*h!

While I don't disagree with the sentiment, I don't think Mountain West schools realistically have the option to leave byu out in the cold like we'd all love to see. I think almost all MW schools that have byu on the schedule will be "forced" to play them. Let me explain:

There are already rumors of a lawsuit coming for Big 10 and other P5 schools who don't fulfill their contractual obligation to play the money games they had scheduled with G5 schools. Given the circumstances, my opinion is it will be hard for P5 schools to not pay a good portion of the penalty money written into those contracts. For example, Ohio State will be traveling to out of state to play Penn State, Maryland, etc, but can't play a home game against Bowling Green? Doesn't feel like the "act of God" clause to get out of games without paying will happen here.

I see the same thing happening for USU and other MWC schools. If USU can play at Boise, Colorado State, etc., than we don't have a way to get out of the contract with byu without paying penalty fees. The difference between us and the P5 schools is we don't have the cash to light on fire like they do. Thus MWC schools will be forced into keeping our end of the contract.

It'll be tough to sue when all of the other conferences follow the same path and eliminate non-conference games, I think they will. Now byu, not being in a conference cuz they thought they were better than everyone else and burned a bunch of bridges by abandoning the conference, I could see them suing.

It would be probably 10 games home and home with NMSU, Liberty, UConn, Army and UMass.

if there is a football season, ybu's schedule will look like this

Date:

????? NMSU
????? Liberty U
????? UCONN
????? NMSU 2nd game
????? Liberty U 2nd game

btw, if you are into sadnessporn, check out their message "bored" they know it's coming. Hoping that Hawaii drops out of MWC conference play so they can have a season.

Won't they have a shot at UMass and Army as well? and why not have a second game vs Uconn?

I have a hunch BYU is going to roll itself into the MWC conference schedule as a full participant this year. Just a hunch...

I am not worried one bit about BYU, I only am concerned if USU is going to play. if that means only conference games including SUU and BYU I would be all for that.

Okay throw in UMASS, but I doubt Army will play, likely navy and AFA too, just a guess

I hope we get to add a couple MW games for the games we lost. I’m guessing the MW will add BYU games and they will be fine.

Once the decision is made, practice will start - so Im thinking the MW will be following the conference only schedule

Do you think that they will still play Southern Utah and BYU or just do a conference only schedule or have you heard anything different?

Thinkin conference only, the SEC is currently the division not on board with this. Maybe the games we are losing will be replaced by opponents in our conference that we weren’t scheduled to play this year.

We all know corona hates non conference football events and is rather fond of conference matchups.
