Re: Cracks in the Peoples' Republic
There's been talk of the three MWC Cal States being shut down for fall sports, to one degree or another, and the latest being that they're studying having games w/o spectators. The news about Ventura Co opening up malls and restaurants is terrific news and another indicator that it's getting likelier that our Cal States won't be out of competition.
Maybe you haven't been following the developments.

Perhaps I misunderstood what was said but I thought at least the three Mountain West schools have said they plan on participating.USU78 wrote: ↑May 21st, 2020, 1:12 pmThere's been talk of the three MWC Cal States being shut down for fall sports, to one degree or another, and the latest being that they're studying having games w/o spectators. Re: Cracks in the Peoples' Republic
I've been skeptical myself that the Gov + legislature + the Cal State system would cooperate with that plan. Openings in so significant a county as Ventura is the best news in this regard I have seen. I'm feeling mighty relieved.aggies22 wrote: ↑May 21st, 2020, 1:17 pmPerhaps I misunderstood what was said but I thought at least the three Mountain West schools have said they plan on participating.USU78 wrote: ↑May 21st, 2020, 1:12 pmThere's been talk of the three MWC Cal States being shut down for fall sports, to one degree or another, and the latest being that they're studying having games w/o spectators. Re: Cracks in the Peoples' Republic
You mean Cal State Channel Islands (old Camarillo State hospital). No sports, bummerUSU78 wrote: ↑May 21st, 2020, 10:01 amhttps://ktla.com/news/ventura-county-of ... -tops-830/
Cal State Camarillo to the mwc?
Also, Ventura Co had very few cases, they did a good job of dodging a bullet, even with two Naval Bases... impressive.

Sacramento County has a population of 1.5 million. They have only had 1,255 confirmed cases and 56 deaths. That is 0.08% of the county contracting COVID-19 and 0.0037% of the county population dying from it.USU78 wrote: ↑May 21st, 2020, 3:35 pmExactly! My county, Placer (which is east of Sacramento County and extends up to and includes Lake Tahoe, has just over 385,000 people. We have seen 175 COVID-19 cases confirmed and had 8 deaths attributed to it. That is 0.045% of the population contracting COVID, and 0.002% of the population dying from it. 99.998% of the people have been fine. We started opening things up on Monday (with county commissioners threatening lawsuits against the Governor's office to allow relaxed orders to get the economy moving).

Re: Cracks in the Peoples' Republic
I always find it interesting when people in Utah poke fun at other states government having to much control over the actions of their citizens, perhaps a glance in the mirror may prove very telling.

The best thing I ever did on this site was ask to have the sand box removed from my forum options. Please don't bring it into sports now.

Yeah. I took a chance that a sign of good things coming would be welcomed with rejoicing. I'm an idiot.

Re: Cracks in the Peoples' Republic
Ventura County Beaches are open this weekend... what's to stop a N. San Diego County dude and his family from coming over for the weekend and coughing on everyone? Checkpoint Charlie on 101 downside of the Conejo Grade? SURFS UP BABY!

And after he's had a day at the beach he can find himself a nice hot plate of fried ox nards with some ranch sauce.

Just watch out for the guys at Point Mugu. I hear they can scan your temperature in your car and blast you off the 101 with their laser beams.
