So which one of the teams in front of GB was likely to draft Love?

Post by hipsterdoofus21 » April 23rd, 2020, 11:14 pm

There must have been a reason GB was aggressive to trade up a few spots to get him. They only had a few more picks to go to get him without having to trade. Can't imagine it was the dolphins since they already drafted Tua. Baltimore has Jackson, Seattle has Wilson, and Tennessee just signed Tannehill for big bucks. Unless they caught wind that one of those 3 was shopping it's pick.

Any of those teams could have traded their pick to a team that did need a QB, that was the cause of trading up.

We should know much more about the horse trading for drafting rights to Jordan in a couple of weeks...or less. I'm just so happy for him, and wish him a long and healthy career in the NFL.

I think they were concerned about the Colts or the Patriots trading up from the top of the 2nd round for him...

Colts were rumored to trade up, Titans were a risk as well.

You're spot on. According to Ian Rappaport, they were scared of the Colts, but also didn't expect him to fall that far.

GB doesn’t expect to be picking in the top 20-25 of the first round for another 4-5 years with Rodgers at the helm. They had a chance at a raw top 10 talent and took it.

^^^This... combined with the uncertainty of the next NCAA football season being played to see future QBs play.

Didn't even think about this. Next year's crop of qb's outside of Lawrence and Fields will be even more bleak if they don't have a season.
