Looks like some potential to boost the LB positions. Thanks for the info.

Re: Return Missionary Watch
We stole him from whom? I don’t think Western New Mexico is even a 4 year university. And New Mexico State is barely.

I think 22 is saying that he could be a steal like a fackrell or vigil steal. My goodness can’t we all just get along!

Re: Return Missionary Watch
It's an expression - meaning better than we deserve or could have earned with the qualities we currently possess.
For example, your friend who looks like Jack Black's half brother and lives with his mom comes up to you and says,
Hey Chad, meet my wife Rachel, she's a model.
Nice to meet you, Rachel.
Likewise. (she walks away)
Dude! Where'd you steal her from?

I don't know that I would call any player a steal until after they perform on the field. Hopefully all of our guys are steals!

Well, I was only speaking for myself, as always, and how I view things. But I always view recruiting that way. I'm always excited for signings, but it's all in the proving after that! I'm just praying we get to have a season to watch this year!
I'm grateful you have percieved me to be positive!

Re: Return Missionary Watch
Well, Cole committed during the summer prior to his senior year. He was so firm on his commitment to us that his high school coach wouldn't let any other schools even make a pitch to him. His physical abilities were so freakish that David Yost went to Thatcher to see for himself and once Coach Yost saw him workout, he offered him on the spot. I compare his ability to Dax Raymond coming out of high school. Cole was simply overshadowed because his school was predominantly a run offense and he spent a TON of time as a blocker. He was also one of the first players to reaffirm their commitment to Utah State when Coach Collins and Coach Maile held our recruiting class together.

Re: Return Missionary Watch
I’m sorry if my comment came across as demeaning, except perhaps a good natured jab at the southern Aggies. The explanation above makes sense and makes me feel better about this recruitaggies22 wrote: ↑April 7th, 2020, 12:09 pmWell, Cole committed during the summer prior to his senior year. No worries my Aggie brother! I just figured I would explain why I feel confident in what I said.bullshot wrote: ↑April 7th, 2020, 8:17 pmI’m sorry if my comment came across as demeaning, except perhaps a good natured jab at the southern Aggies. Mr Phillips (aka 22) must have called Cole yesterday and asked for a video.aggies22 wrote: ↑April 7th, 2020, 9:57 pmNo worries my Aggie brother! Crew Wakely? With a name like that he should be in a rowing team somewhere.

Re: Return Missionary Watch
Crew is listed as an Athlete. Any ideas what position he’ll play? He’s very good and fast with the ball in his hands so I’d love to see him develop into a WR but something tells me Gary will make him a safety, which is fine too. I imagine he’ll redshirt this season regardless (play is no more than 4 games).

I excluded Crew because he was announced in February with the 2020 class.

Re: Return Missionary Watch
It will be interesting to see if schools will have scholarships available for Missionaries returning early. They will have to count against the 25 initial scholarships of which all but one was used up. I hope we don't lose anyone over this .

Re: Return Missionary Watch
While I understand your concern, I would be shocked if we lost any recruits to this whole ordeal. The kids have to understand that the coaching staff had no idea that up to 10 of them could possibly come back all in the same summer. If my count is correct we have 4 or 5 scholarships left that could be used this summer for some of the RM's. The school in provo is the one that is screwed they have as many as 30 to 35 kids all coming back.AGGIEFIGHT wrote: ↑April 9th, 2020, 11:26 amIt will be interesting to see if schools will have scholarships available for Missionaries returning early.
