Jordan Love Analysis

Post by NovaAgg » January 14th, 2020, 3:20 pm

Last week, the Petros and Money Show out of Los Angeles had on Daniel Jeremiah, who's an NFL Network analyst and draft expert, and they discussed Jordan Love at some length. Jeremiah thinks Love will go in either the first or second round and describes him as having "a freaky amount of talent." (As a bonus, Chuckie Keeton even gets a mention in the interview!)

The Daniel Jeremiah segment begins at the 17:37 mark, while the discussion about Love starts at 20:21. Well worth a listen.

His detractors here are going to realize next year what a talent USU had.

Few schools have first round QBs waiting in the wings when a first round QB leaves. You recruit and develop accordingly to prepare for graduation or early departure.

The hope is that the supporting cast gets a little better/more experienced to make up for it. The OL should improve a lot.

We need some plug and play guys at WR and RB. I like Warren, but he is injury prone and we are realllllly thin after him.

Is Duncan not playing RB then?

Nope. Linebacker. I don't know if he'll be an ILB or OLB though.

I don't think many of the 'detractors' thought he sucked. He made many bad decisions, a few of which led directly to losses.

He has a lot of talent including a great arm. I'd love to see him go in the 1st or 2nd round and get paid.

Early this morning Clay Travis had a reporter on talking about the Qb's at the Senior Bowl. Herbert, Hurts, Tua and J10VE were part of the conversation. Shea Patterson & Anthony Gordon were not.

NBC just posted this write up on him

Utah State quarterback Jordan Love was the headliner, showing off his cannon of an arm in what was a clear display of starting-quarterback talent. Compared to fellow North team quarterbacks Shea Patterson (Michigan) and Anthony Gordon (Washington State), Love looked like the only quarterback who's capable of succeeding in the NFL. It wasn't even close.

Love has an effortless throwing motion. His passes are crisp, accurate and on a rope. Was he perfect? No. But he had the most impressive arm of the day. His first-round hype is very real and will only continue to build momentum as the week goes on.

I realize this is stating the obvious, but seems like a good Senior Bowl, and he's pretty much guaranteed to be 1st round.

Would anybody with an ESPN+ membership post a screenshot of Jordan Love's summary? I don't have ESPN+, but would love to see what they said about him!

Here is Todd McShay from the ESPN+ article.

Jordan Love, Utah State
Team: North | QB ranking: 6

My early impression is that Love stands to benefit from this week as much as anyone else on the field. Some scouts still think he might have Round 1 potential, and he performed well in Day 1 workouts. He moves well, extending plays and effectively throwing on the run. And he certainly has a good arm and isn't afraid to use it. I'd like to see him work on consistency and protecting the football, though. He takes risks. But you can see the talent, and I'm excited to see how he performs the rest of the week.

I said it before and I'll continue to say it, he's the second or third QB taken off the board. The reports that he's a "sleeper" are hilarious.... He never has been a sleeper this year. It's a lazy take from "experts" that see he played at USU and use that as their tag line. He wont make it past the 22nd pick. Any takers on that bet?

The Senior Bowl is huge for Love. He can really improve his stock. I'll say that if he really kicks a$$? He'll have a legit shot at the second round. Otherwise he stays in the 3-4 range. Only reason I don't think he has a shot at the first round is that too many people have said he a little rough and still needs to develop his skills. Pro teams draft QB's in the 1st round who they are planning to start that year.

My keys. Can he find secondary receivers? Can he see the whole field or just half? How is his footwork? Does he have the speed and quickness to avoid sacks?

But...... Josh Allen went in the top 10.

Weren't you saying JLove was a 4-5th rounder a couple of weeks ago?

He is not making it out of the 2nd round. Right now it looks like he may not make it out of the first round, let alone top 15 picks!

It's not a big deal what the McShay's and Kiper's of the world say. There are hits and misses that come to mind. One that sticks out because it hits close to home, both of them shredded the Seahawks for drafting not only Bobby Wagner but Russell Wilson as well. Someone will take Jordan in the first round because they don't want to be the team that passed on Jordan Love.

They were saying at the senior bowl practice yesterday that Jordan and Herbert right now are playing to see who is the third QB taken off the board and that Jordan might be in the lead right now. In the last 15 or 16 years, there has on average been 2 QB's go in the first round and 4 QB's being the most ever taken in 1st round. So it really depends on what teams need and if they are willing to risk missing out on someone by trying to wait until the second round. All the mock drafts so far have made it look like there are quite a few teams in the market for a QB and so teams might worry about waiting on Love until round 2 in fear he is off the board.

I'm not sure why Eason isn't at the senior bowl but I sure haven't heard much about him recently. He is still listed as a top 5 QB, but I wonder if he is going to be hurt by not playing this weekend.

He's actually listed as going first round now on Kiper's board. That is the first I've seen him or McShay think he'd go in first round.

It's about damn time. I think he's pretty much forced their hand. He's meeting with teams, "sources" from those teams give feedback to Kiper and McShay and when someone from an NFL team is telling those two that Jordan is first-round talent, they'll move him up or risk looking like idiots when their 4th round projection goes #15 in the first round.

Those draft gurus have this back step they do where they say they are projecting based on team needs not the actual player talent. Or the other way around. Gives them the ability to have it both ways if a player moves up or down
