Now I know how Ball State felt in 1993

Yep. Dammit.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Presumptuous and ill-informed.

They had all the passion and emotion and we were the same flat team we’ve seen for most of the year. They outplayed us and deserved to win.

It's true, even with how unemotional we played we were still right there with a team that was laying it all on the line and leaving their heart of the field to make history for their school and one another. That speaks to the talent we do have, we just didn't have a staff that knew how to use that talent or motivate those that posses it.

If we keep referring to them as K State enough, we might be able to convince ourselves that we lost to a Big XII team and that would be more palatable.

I am a big believer in the idea that players take on the personality of their coach. If they see someone excited and fired up then they become fired up, most teams are simply a reflection of their head coach. Kent St. was no exception, they had coaches jumping up and down and getting involved emotionally in the flow of the game and we had a sideline of stoic statues that looked either constipated or zoned out like zombies. Our players and team this year are a reflection of our coaches.

Sometimes a team will instead follow the senior players or supposed team leaders but too many of our player leaders on both sides of the ball are not the vocal or excitable type. It was just a bad combo of leadership on and off the field to spark any type of passion.

Anderson acts like being excited is now below him. Same stone face and red nose.

Kent State played well — credit to them.

I’m still embarrassed for our coaches and team to have given up 51 points to them though.

There once was a former USU linebacker who went on to coach at BYU. He was noted for his stoicism on the sideline. Arms folded, very little facial expression. Same stone face and red nose.

Does that mean that Edwards let his assistants fire up the team?
