Not another BBD Stats! - Bowl Week (Kent St)

Post by BigBlueDart » December 19th, 2019, 5:35 pm

First of all, apologies for starting a new thread on an old topic.

Last time on BBD Stats:

USU - 37.48 (38) (154.63 (196) rush, 380.90 (172) pass, 535.53 (368) total)
New Mexico - 22.95 (25) (215.95 (276) rush, 217.13 (107) pass, 433.08 (383) total)

Pretty off on the yardage numbers again, but I was dang close on the score.

By this point in the year we pretty much know who we are. Movement in our numbers was mostly small, though we had a few things go up or down. The only category that changed color is Pass D, which went from slightly red to slightly green. It's a shame to see how much our Run D has suffered over the season with as much promise as it showed early on. Woodward left a gaping hole. Quite literally, at times.

The Kent St Flash has a competent offense, with more strength in their run game than passing. That's a little bit of a red flag. Hopefully the past two weeks have been used well in practice for us there. Our offense shouldn't have too much trouble with their defense, however. Their defense isn't the worst we've played this year, but it is on the bad side. Their run D is particularly poor, so I can see Bright going out with a bang and Warren grinding them to a pulp. I have the feeling that Love will be motivated to put on a good show, too. I think our defense will give up yards and scores at times, but our offense being able to outpace them. I'm hoping that our offense just has a field day. And I'm plugging my ears and going "la, la, la, la..." when some of you start talking about Kent St being more motivated to get their first bowl win. So there.

Gonna be a closer game than people think. A key mistake by Kent State could open it up for us though!

I always like these BBD. As for this game, there is no outcome that will surprise me.

Last year many predicted that we would fall apart after our coaching staff left and we ended the season on a sour note in Boise. Thus, we would lose our bowl game to the mighty North Texas Eagles.

How did that turn out?
