Jordan Love & Gerold Bright busted for smoking weed

Post by Roy McAvoy » December 17th, 2019, 11:20 am

Will they get to play in the bowl now?

I hate how Marijuana is such an indictment, but in the very next state over it's not even illegal. I'm sure this officer was super giddy about making this bust. So stupid.

I bet this was a big deal for the Logan Police. Meanwhile, hundreds of miles away in any direction but north or south, inhaling the flower is perfectly legal. Dumb.

Whether it should or should not be illegal, at the moment it is illegal. I just don't understand how anyone can be so dumb as to risk future career and opportunities by doing something that is so balltantly illegal and so easy to get caught?!

Just go to a state where it is legal, or just wait. These are people who have spent years and years working very hard with incredible self discipline to further their careers, why risk throwing so much of that away for a stupid few minutes of smoking weed?

If they were to miss the game because of this then Logan City would look nut's. That could hurt as far as recruiting goes, IMHO this is as bad as getting a traffic ticket at worst.

They have access to smoothies all day and night too!! Hope they don't all have to poop during the game..... :joking:

Logan City is just doing its job. They received a complaint, responded to the complaint, and enforced the law. This is just stupid by the players. They know the law. They know it was wrong. I'm glad they weren't operating a vehicle while smoking. They will probably pay a fine and move on with life.

Yes and I bet they have done this before and not got caught, just like a lot of college football players. Not saying it is right, but there are lots of other players around the country that have done the same thing.

Glad they get to play and also see that posters so far are not judgmental. These are three good kids...they are in fact kids whose youth makes them vulnerable to lapses in judgment. I feel for Jordan Love in that it may not necessarily but may affect his position in the NFL draft. This is not new to the NFL who in actuality does not really care that much but sadly uses it as leverage when negotiating contracts. Hope he has epic game on Friday and has nothing to be ashamed of.

Jordan Love & Gerold Bright busted for smoking weed

Post by Cheecho6 » December 17th, 2019, 12:25 pm

Whatever your options are about marijuana the fact remains that it is illegal in Utah. Spare me the argument that it doesn’t matter because it’s legal in other states.

Yes, they are college kids, but that also doesn’t excuse this. I expect kids in our program to have better judgement. Especially leaders like Love and Bright.

I hope GA keeps them out of the bowl game. Expectations and consequences are more important for the future success of our program.

Meh. These guys just finished up finals and their college careers. They’ve put in so much work and taken a beating on their bodies for the Aggies.

Let them have a few celebratory puffs at the end of great careers. I won’t come down on them for it.

Fine ($1K if < 1 oz), 6-month probation, drug class (cost = ?), and they're done, assuming no history.

Exactly. It’s not black tar heroine or even opioids prescribed by a doctor. The law is dumb and outdated and if some people who think it will ruin society if we allow responsible people with different beliefs enjoy it legally than at least decriminalize it and make it be a citation like a speeding ticket that you just need to pay a fine and not have breaking news plastered all over logan. Stop acting like heroes because you busted someone with a joint trying to unwind. It’s just embarrassing how big of a deal things get made out to be in cache valley.

Regardless of how you feel about the drug, if it’s a team rule to not do it and they broke team rules does that change your opinion about whether or not they should play? No player(s) should be bigger than the program.

I don't smoke marijuana or any drugs for that matter. I am not even a proponent of legalizing it. That being said I got better things to worry about then college kids smoking some marijuana in there apartment. Not saying I support it, but what kids choose to do in their own spare time is not my business. Them smoking some marijuana is only affecting their individual lives. I realize it is not legal in Utah, but I got better things to stress about like if the Aggies can win the bowl game.

I’m suggesting it is a stupid law that needs to be changed and I realize cops are doing their job but these type of charges have ruined many lives when they shouldn’t and we don’t need to publicize something like this. Not everything is as black and white as the culture in Utah wants you to believe. I am happy to see that the public perception is starting to turn and how understanding so many people on this board are

Dumb and selfish decision. Should have just waited a week. I don’t personally give a crap whether they did it or not but the timing puts the program and the coaches in an awkward position. I hope they play and I don’t think anything less of them at all but it was a really dumb decision.

Did this just happen or is this something that happened a while ago that is just getting out?

Whatever your options are about marijuana the fact remains that it is illegal in Utah. Spare me the argument that it doesn’t matter because it’s legal in other states.

Yes, they are college kids, but that also doesn’t excuse this. I expect kids in our program to have better judgement. Especially leaders like Love and Bright.

Meh. These guys just finished up finals and their college careers. They’ve put in so much work and taken a beating on their bodies for the Aggies.

Let them have a few celebratory puffs at the end of great careers. I won’t come down on them for it.
Regardless of how you feel about the drug, if it’s a team rule to not do it and they broke team rules does that change your opinion about whether or not they should play? No player(s) should be bigger than the program.

Nope. Let them play in the bowl game. I certainly hope you never ever break the speed limit or use your phone while driving. Those are infinitely more dangerous to others than weed and are both illegal. If you have, I hope you are punished to the fullest and others harshly judge you for it while criticizing your name online for it.

Happened three nights ago (Saturday night) according to the article. Like I said, I don’t really care at all but the timing was stupid at best.
