Nevada game - the perfect storm for low attendance
1) Fall Break - less students and every neighbor I have is out of town.
2) 8:15 kick - historically this doesn't matter that much, but people complain and combine it with.....
3) AWFUL weather report - people can be wet or people can be cold, make them wet and cold and they get sad.
All that being said, I can't wait to go watch and enjoy a lot of elbow space and leg room! Go Aggies!

Re: Nevada game - the perfect storm for low attendance
Oh yes, this game will be sparsely attended. We already have minority support within the greater community...and a majority of that minority are fair weathered. We have die hard fans but not very many. Saturday will give you an idea of how many die hard fans we actually have.

The key is for everyone that is there to be loud and proud and support/push the players to victory. I know I will be without a voice by the end of the game.

Re: Nevada game - the perfect storm for low attendance
I was thinking the CSU game would be sparsely attended because of the downpour, but people really showed up! Hopefully adding in a bit cooler temperatures and Fall Break won’t take it down too substantially..
I won’t be there though.. But only because it is my wife’s birthday the next day and we have date plans! So not all the die-hards will be there :c

Re: Nevada game - the perfect storm for low attendance
Attendance will be at least as good as CSU and I thought it was outstanding considering the abhorrent conditions.
We can go to 3-0 in the MW this weekend.
I'll be there and so will my 11 year old.

I'm willing to bet that the students show up and pleasantly surprise everyone with remarkable attendance given the crappy weather.

Re: Nevada game - the perfect storm for low attendance
With it being fall break, I know a TON of students will already be out of town. I hope I am wrong, but I don't expect too many HURD members. They'll be somewhere warm.

And of course this new Aggie tradition only works when it's dark...so does that mean late evening starts are the new normal? Ugh.

Re: Nevada game - the perfect storm for low attendance
Looking at the updated forecast. It is 100% chance of rain at 4 pm and then gradually decreased after that. By kickoff it is 60% and by midnight 50%. I don't think this will be as wet as the CSU game. This game will be colder in the mid 30's. I will be there with my kids and cheering loud. A little cold and rain won't stop me. People need to stop being pansies and man/woman up.

Has there always been a fall break at USU? I don’t remember one and is fall break really needed?

[They had it when i went to school in the early 2000's. As far as fall break for elementary etc. I don't think it is needed, but that is just me. I would rather use those days for more days around Thanksgiving or Christmas.

Doubtful as that was homecoming.Sl7vk wrote:Attendance will be at least as good as CSU and I thought it was outstanding considering the abhorrent conditions.
We can go to 3-0 in the MW this weekend.
I'll be there and so will my 11 year old.
And according to the AD they ask for two weekends to not host home conference games every year (each mwc gets to ask for two.) Each year they ask for deer hunt opening and Saturday after Thanksgiving. Conference couldn’t make both work this year.

It’s been raining pretty heavy all night in Logan and It supposed to clear tomorrow. It seems like whenever we are supposed to get hit with back to back Storms the second round is never as strong as they anticipateAggie84025 wrote: ↑October 17th, 2019, 8:30 pmLooking at the updated forecast. I grew up mowing lawns and rainy days were days off so I have always watched weather patterns since then. I could be way off but i also don’t feel arthritis in my bones either.

Re: Nevada game - the perfect storm for low attendance
I know that 30-40 years ago that the deer hunt was a big deal (including for me) and was a definite hit to attendance but I don’t know a single person that still hunts. Is this really a serious concern for attendance any more? Honest question. I just don’t know. Plus, NOBODY is hunting in the dark....SasquatchAggie wrote: ↑October 17th, 2019, 11:12 am4) Opening weekend of the rifle deer hunt in Utah.

I shot my neighbors cow last month and was successful arguing with a Stand Your Ground with North Park PD. Offered to pay the butchering fee to split the cow with my neighbor.bluegrouse wrote:I know that 30-40 years ago that the deer hunt was a big deal (including for me) and was a definite hit to attendance but I don’t know a single person that still hunts. Seeing as how the neighbor was still "with" the cow when you shot her, he may want more than the butcher's fee split.TheAKAggie wrote: ↑October 17th, 2019, 10:18 pmI shot my neighbors cow last month and was successful arguing with a Stand Your Ground with North Park PD. I thought Scott Barnes, back in the day, had a good idea when offered the local high schools a chance to pay a couple of bucks and be an "Aggie student" for a day. I don't remember if it was ever that successful, but a good idea, at least!

Re: Nevada game - the perfect storm for low attendance
It’s fall break, or UEA as I remember it, for high schools this week also. So even if we allowed high schoolers it probably wouldn’t help much. I know a lot of locals are gone this weekend too. So it could be really sparse at the game.dawgraphic wrote: ↑October 18th, 2019, 7:32 amI thought Scott Barnes, back in the day, had a good idea when offered the local high schools a chance to pay a couple of bucks and be an "Aggie student" for a day.
