We have impressive listenership. Wake up, 1280!!
One of my best friends texted me something interesting today. He and I went to Utah State together and he has spent the last few years working for Learfield IMG at Miami (Ohio), Louisville, and now the University of Utah.
He was asking me if I listen to the Aggies All The Way Podcast and then proceeded to tell me that it is the 3rd most listened to Learfield Podcast behind Michigan and North Carolina. We sit right above Oklahoma and West Virginia.
First of all— kudos to Aggie Nation for the awesome amounts of attention that we give to USU-focused media. And shoutout to Scotty G for all his hard work and support.
Scotty- if you read this post, I imagine you are fully aware of the success of your podcast and how good the USU listenership is. That said, please talk some sense into your asshat colleagues at 1280. I’ve long suspected that the station doesn’t know what % of their daily listeners are Aggie alums and fans. Outside of Scotty & Hans’ segment, we are completely ignored. DJ & PK occasionally try to work us into conversations, but the rest don’t even hide the fact that they don’t care.
Gordon Monson is an elitist jackass that has made a career out of stating the obvious and pitting Utes and Cougars against each other.
Austin Horton is a clown and I can smell his scout-leader/ mormony BYU allegiance through the radio. He probably dreams about the elusive Big12 invite when he isn’t reading his scriptures or drooling over the Jazz.
I’ve met Jake Scott and he is a nice guy but will take any opportunity he can to discredit Boise State and all they’ve accomplished (insulting the relevance of our conference in the process). That is when he spends 5 seconds every year covering the Mountain West.
Tony Parks can’t make mention of Utah State because he never shuts up about the Bees, the Jazz, and high school football. He will make time for the Y and the U, however.
Honestly- I bet you that outside of Scotty, not one of the 1280 guys could name more than 4 players on our roster. Just listened to Gordon & Jake interview Josh Parcell on the way home from work and they brought up the Y, the U, Clemson, Alabama, LSU, Herm Edwards, etc. Not a single question about the Aggies.
Been a Zone listener for years and am familiar with the daily formula and lack of Aggie love. But I was sent over a dark edge today...
Go Aggies. Go Scotty. Keep fighting the good fight.
Keep listening to the podcast!

I don't mind Hans and Scotty being the only ones to talk about the Aggies. I would feel bad if one of the other shows, that I don't listen to, was actually talking about the Aggies.
Honestly, Scotty, does a part of you die each day that your station has to employ PK? He is the absolute worst personality in all of sports talk radio. Is your morning target audience 10-12 year old boys? Cause I'll bet that age finds him hilarious.

Podcasts have no geographic boundaries, radio does.
I don't think insulting Scotty's friends and colleagues is a strategy that will get much traction

Re: We have impressive listenership. Wake up, 1280!!
I can’t believe PK is employed.
Scotty and Hans are all we need - they do a great job covering the Aggies and they are by far the best segment on 1280.
I don’t want PK and DJ to talk Aggies they are just so difficult to listen to. And Monson sounds just like Winnie the Pooh’s friend Eeyore. Even if he’s saying something positive it sounds borderline suicidal. Just keep up the good work guys, I love your coverage.

All the hate for PK when Monson is still.... well it’s nice of him to show up. At least PK has some original thoughts and likes watching sports.

On 1280 it shows how many people listen to interviews that they post on the website. It seems that usu has just as many listens as the other schools if not more. Granted they have less content so maybe all of our fans listen to the one or two interviews that they provide.

I have no problem with 1280. The only person I struggle with is Hans. Overly dramatic all of the time and the bigger Cougar lover on the entire station - by far. When he talks basketball it makes me cringe.

Re: We have impressive listenership. Wake up, 1280!!
Han seems like he is pretty genuine and just wants to be positive about everyone but he played at BYU and had great memories from there so it would be difficult to not have bias. I love his video breakdowns and it’s cool he does them for USU also. I think a bigger part of the issue is we have too limited representation at the station. Need a few more Aggie alums whether ex-players or more Scotty Gs. All local radio people will have built in biases so just add more bias to their lineup to tip the scales.
If their is a sustainable demand for content, I bet they will fulfill the need.

Patrick Kinahan is an (I can't express myself without swearing).........
Plain and simple. How DJ has him on channel 2 Sunday nights is beyond me?
Anywhere else in the USA he would not be employed, less of course Louisiana! Anyone remember Deliverance?
Saw him at Walmart here in Saint Greed 1 year ago! I thought it was funny but par for the course for him to be in Walmart in Washington Utah......

I recently tried to listen to 1280. I don’t understand how anyone can deal with listening to 20 minutes of rehashed content and 40 minutes of commercials every hour.

Never use Spotify for podcasts. They insert their own ads into them. Use Overcast or Pocket CastsAndroidAggie wrote: ↑October 17th, 2019, 6:44 amdoes playing the podcast through the home page feed here count for listernership through learfield, or should i go use spotify or something to subscribe?

Alright, I'm going to make a quick plug. This is the perfect topic to put it in! Like fate!
A couple of buddies and I just started a USU Centered Podcast - The Sagebrush Show: An Aggie Podcast. We just wrapped our third week so go easy, we use the booths at ESPN 700 and are having an absolute blast. I have we can provide y'all with some more Aggie content.
We had Justin Bean on the line last night, had a great interview with him. We are doing weekly podcasts and plan to be bigger and better.
I'll link it here to Spotify but we are on anything you guys listen to podcasts on!

Who needs to listen to 1280 when you have the Aggies All The Way, Aggie Legends, The Scotsman, and now the Sagebrush spot podcasts.
