Parking at the church

Post by GameFAQSAggie » October 14th, 2019, 11:25 am

If you park at the church, make sure your car is out by midnight. And that means out of the lot, not you're almost there. Even if means moving it at halftime. If you are someone that normally likes to save money by parking for free at the church, pay for parking in the lot this game. The booters come at midnight, and are concrete about the bare minimum someone has to violate the rule. So they will boot your car right at midnight, like be there early and literally be waiting for the clock to change from 11:59 to 12:00 and not care if you are almost there or for instance are in the process of loading your blankets and kids in the car. And if a manager tells them to not patrol on a certain day like moving day, they will literally start booting at midnight of the next day. I have heard of someone that had a booter ask if it was his car, and he told him it was, being naive enough to think he was asking so he could let him go if it was and proceed to boot if it wasn't, but instead, he was asking so he could hurry if it was and take his time if it wasn't. They are even concrete about booting if a sticker is on the wrong side or the permit is on the dashboard instead of the rear view mirror or whatever condition the manager tells them they can boot.

The reason is cause booters get paid by the car they boot. It's like if you started paying cops by the ticket they write, then they wouldn't have any incentive to give people 15 before they stop them. I think a law should be passed that there is a set amount of money the booter gets for a time period of patroling, while the apartment complex gets the rest. The booting on campus is more reasonable, as you have to get a few unpaid tickets to be booted, and the people on campus get a set wage regardless of it they boot or not.

In the case of the church for the game, the regional church manager or whoever is authorized, would have to tell the booters not to come that night, or wait until later to come. They would only stay away if they are told they have to. If they were told to wait until 12:30 or 1, they would come at that time.

It would be wonderful if all that booting money went to build a bridge across the river by the church and old farm. One can dream.

No way, skipping across the well placed boulders has been one of my favorite traditions. I remember a guy who brought a few pallets in the back of his truck a few years back to build a temporary bridge for the season. That guy was a hero.

I've heard this story many times on the forum, but I just don't buy it. There is no way the church is hiring a parking enforcement company to go out and boot cars at midnight of a late game day. Aggie myth.

Lot holds about 200 cars, no way they have more than 20 boots. Play the odds, park in the middle.

This isn't just something I heard. There are signs posted at the entrances to the lots that say "No Overnight Parking, Midnight to 7AM" and that cars would be booted, with the name and number of the company. The church isn't hiring the company for just that night, they hire them to come EVERY NIGHT. The only way they aren't coming is if an authorized leader tells them not to come. It could be just one regional guy who has to tell them, or it could be a number of stake presidency or councilors or bishopric members that have authority to say "Don't come tonight".

Stake presidents and bishops have no say in the booting. It is managed by the local PFR rep who is employed by the LDS church to maintain all the churches in cache valley. I don’t know if that person is aware of the late game as he is a BYU homer

I park here all the time. I've seen it firsthand. Park in the back close to the canal. The booters start on the 600 east side and work east. They usually have 25 or 30 boots.

Thank you gordoAggie for knowing it is a Canal .......CanofShiz..on the other hand, do you know the difference between a rinky canal and a River? Hell, the only canals that seem like rivers are in Idaho on the Snake river system! For that matter a river in Cache Valley is a ditch in Montana!

Park on the street near the church and walk to the stadium as it's just a few steps further. It's a bunch easier than migrating with the herd from a post game parking lot cluster foxtrot.

Won’t that get you a ticket without a residential permit?

The residential permit rules are only enforced during the day Monday-Friday.

The things that people stress about just make me laugh. If you are that worried about getting booted just pay $10 and park or find a different parking spot that will not boot.

It would be really helpful if the University had enough parking that was open for game days that was not tied to residential areas.

Is not the parking where the old trailer park open on game days ? Last I checked it, was and it is huge I believe it has a $10 parking charge. USU parking is large, and more than ample.

Yes, we parked there for the CSU game and the $10 was worth it. Less than an 8 minute walk to the stadium. Didn't risk a ticket from Logan City or a boot from some industrious devil.

This is absolutely not true! I've been extremely disappointed in my season ticket parking - Lot E. It is ridiculous! There really isn't a lot at all. It is a free for all trying to park around buses and maintenance sheds. For Stoney Brook, they were literally quadruple parking cars. That's right, cars parked 4 deep, locking in the middle 2 cars.

And the most irritating part...they were selling parking in that "lot." The "spot" I ended up in was further away than if I would have parked at the church across the street.

BS that there's plenty of parking.

I have really liked D lot this year. It is an easy walk down to the stadium and getting in and out is really smooth. We previously just used the handicap parking, but since my dad passed away last year that isn’t an option anymore.

I think there are some spots- but I think we need more. There just really isn't enough dedicated Mav parking. It was an error in my view in the initial layout- with softball field, recycling centers, bus depots, that ag building, and the surplus store all in an area that would make a much better parking experience. In addition large portions of the lot were always blocked off for game day pre-game operations (ie- giant Alumni Association tent, HURD, etc). I would like to move many of those things to 1000 North and a section of 800 East (which had/have the Macey's events) while keeping the parking lot clearer- .

I just dont think it is worth it to the University to tear down and relocate all of those things. To really get the game day experience we should be able to have people be able to buy multiple spots and tailgate. A year or two before I left to be able to buy multiple spots, you needed to buy those spots for the year (at a premium) and they were in a pretty small lot. Which only really allowed Greeks, Campus Orgs, and dedicated tailgating groups to buy it.

But if you were a group who wanted to tailgate before homecoming or the 1st game, you're stuck to one spot that has your car in it.

Having had "E" lot parking a couple of years in the past I agree it is bogus that they sell spots in it and you end up running out of space for people that paid a premium to have a parking pass. The irritating thing I noticed is that the northeast part of the "C" parking that I often walked by was usually hardly utilized most games. Seems like they could allocate part of that for "E" parking which was usually fairly full. But overall I feel like there are plenty of places to park that are within a 5 to 10 minute walk to the stadium.
