8:44 in the 4th quarter

Post by YouEssYou » September 22nd, 2019, 8:59 pm

The play after the Mariner catch we run Bright up the middle which looked good for the first down, but then the refs come running in and blow the play dead and said the previous play was under review. Can they do that? I thought that once the ball was snapped you couldn't review the previous play. Since they negated the Bright run we ended up having to punt on that series. I was streaming the game so maybe my sound was delayed or something but it looked late to me.

Edit: I just saw the other thread on this. Please merge if so inclined.

to me this was a bad call. I am all for making sure things are right, but this cost us a first down and probably cost us points that drive.

That was a lame review. Then they had a catch from SDSU that they should have reviewed but didn’t.

The whole review system in college needs to be scrapped, give the coaches 2-3 challenges instead. Games need to get done in under 4 hours.

Agreed. I’d like to see the stats on percentages of calls that get reviewed end up staying as originally ruled throughout the ncaa

A friend claimed that the rules state that it doesn't matter when the whistle happens, but when the booth initiates it. So, it could have been that the refs were crazy slow to blow the whistle, but that the booth did initiate in time. Unfortunately, I don't think there is any real way to tell.

In case you haven't noticed this has been an ongoing theme in our games.

I think the refs just need a break from trying to run with our offense.
