Why not just plan on it being an all day event? Start tailgating at 8 a.m., game sometime between then, party the rest of the night?

Why the stress? Fly in Friday, out Sunday.

I am guessing it will be 7 pm eastern time at least that is what I am planning on it being. We will be there early on anyways so it will not matter the time.

LSU traditionally has night games as it is very hot and humid there.

LSU averages one or two afternoon kickoffs per year, typically later in the season. I don't know if October 5th will be late enough to catch the truly enjoyable fall weather in the South, but it likely won't be super hot either.

If we can get weather similar to what we enjoyed in North Carolina this last weekend, that would be perfect.

that's a bummer, I was hoping for a 5pm kickoff, to have more of the day to enjoy the SEC Tailgate scene, and go check out their tiger habitat, night game, etc. But, I still am stoked!

Long term forecast is predicting high of 89 and sunny that day with 56% humidity. Would typically hit that max temp at about 1 or 2 pm this time of year but humidity is likely to be the lowest at mid-day.

I don't know why some are worried about the high temps, it's not like Logan is located next to the beach or something, summer time highs in the CV are typically in the 90's, I' think our men will be plenty acclimated to the heat. The humidity might be another issue though.

If we've learned anything from northern teams visiting southern stadiums this year (Boise, ND, San Jose), it's that humidity and temperature are vastly overrated aspects of the home field advantage. Do you think LSU practices outside on most hot days?

As some one who just moved from Logan to the South. 90s in Logan aren't the same as 90s here. By a mile. Keep in mind that as I write this it is 60 F in Logan at 11 am in Logan (high of 74 F projected) and 89 F in Baton Rouge (high of 92 F projected). If it was mid summer, I would argue that it is fairly negligible but its cooling down in Logan, it isn't doing that in Baton Rouge yet.

My weather app has Logan with freezing temperatures next week. Going from frost on the ground to hot and humid is a lot different than late August mid 90’s to low 90’s and humid.

It’s a change just like in Logan when it hits about 40 in the spring and everyone is in shorts and a t-shirt.

So thats the south end and east-ish side. So it may be for a bit. but I think the majority of the game, it will be in the sun.

Sun will be on the south end but high enough that you'll be in the sun all day. Here is the sun path for the day: https://www.suncalc.org/#/30.4114,-91.1 ... /12:30/1/3

I ran the Google Earth simulation during game time on 10/5 and the only sections that will be shaded for any period of time are 553-565. If your main focus is shade, the best section would be the top rows of 563.

Hello everyone! We excited about hosting the fans from Utah St. and looking forward to the game. For a team that prides itself as DBU, Jordan Love certainly has everyone's attention.

Here to help anyone who plans on making the trip to Baton Rouge. The fanbase is pretty disappointed in the 11 am kickoff and I wish you could have experienced a true night game in Tiger Stadium. Nonetheless, it will be a fun day. Tailgating on LSU's campus should be on any college football fans bucket list. There's truly no place like it.

Like I said, here to help. If anyone needs any gameday tips, restaurant recs or anything else you can think of, just let me know.

They only field DBs. Every single player is a DB. Good luck being better than them.

I would recommend two- The Chimes is located near the north gates of LSU. https://www.thechimes.com/ Pretty good seafood and awesome beer selection. They also recently added a rooftop bar which should be great on game day.

You might also want to try Walk-Ons. https://walk-ons.com/ It's located on the opposite end of campus. The restaurant has been franchised but this is the original location. More of a chain feel than The Chimes

Both should open early for the Utah St game with mimosa, screwdriver, bloody mary specials.

My advice would be to forego the bars and just walk around campus. Tailgating is everywhere and I do mean everywhere. They'll be out there Friday night and will get cranked up super early for an 11 am game. People will invite you in to share their food and drink and take them up on it. Some of the best cooking in Louisiana occurs on LSU's campus on a game day and folks are happy to share.

Gotcha. Of those two, I'd probably recommend The Chimes.
If your group is interested in eating somewhere that evening or the night before I'd recommend Mansur's https://mansursontheboulevard.com/main/home, Ruffino's http://ruffinosbatonrouge.com/, Stroube's https://stroubes.com/,

I wasn't expecting an early morning game. Had planned to spend a lot of time tailgating but it now looks like I have an entire afternoon/evening to burn in Baton Rouge. Whats the best thing to do on a Saturday night there?

I think LSU fans are asking themselves that same question. Morning games are such a rarity that everyone is trying to figure out how to react. There will still be plenty of people tailgating after the game so that's an option. You cant go wrong with an evening of eating and drinking either. If you are staying downtown, there are eating options on 3rd street (Little Village, Stroube's) as well as some bars. Honestly, everyone is used to devoting the entirety of a game day to tailgating and football so we are all a little discombobulated
