Love’s Throwing Motion

Post by TrueBlueFan » August 31st, 2019, 12:31 am

I am not an expert when it comes to throwing motion...but to my untrained eye it seemed that Love’s throwing motion was lacking, especially on the deep ball. He just through some ducks, including the last interception.

Thoughts?

Looked smooth and effortless as usual to me. I did notice he had a new motion and release point on a couple of the short quick outs to the sideline areas. He sort of side-armed them over.

Throwing motion looked damn near perfect to me. The short sidearm throws were amazing.

Maybe I am just crazy. I was at the watch party and sometimes my angle wasn’t perfect. I’m mainly referring to some of his deep throws. Sometimes it looked like he was just throwing a prayer up for grabs from where I was at. There may have been some pressure I couldn’t see.

Jordan Love can throw a bowling ball into a coke bottle.
He made some awesome passes tonight.

I wasn’t able to see the game as I’m out of country. I was curious to not see more of the loss out on Love’s shoulders given 3 INTs. Most teams don’t win games with 3 ints. Was he pressing or were they flukey?

He was very good most of the night but those 3 INTs cost us at least 13 points and possibly 21 so he definitely shoulders some blame. One was in our end zone, one was on their 10 which resulted in a WF touchdown, and one when in FG range in the last 20 seconds. I don’t think they were pressured or flukey with the exception of the last one. Just bad decisions. Even so, we had the game won if we pick up 4 yards with 2 minutes left and Wake with one TO left and we ran straight into the box for the 5th consecutive time. Aaaargh.

The awesome touchdown by Woodward that was called back and the INT in the end zone were daggers. If we had those two TD's that game is totally changed. I was hoping we would throw for the first down on the second to last drive. I had no faith we could get 4 since they had 8 in the box.

All of them were bad throws. He got away with a sure TD to a linebacker and had a few more that should have been picked. He had some great throws too so I would say it was a very mixed bag for Love.

Put the Heisman talk to bed with three interceptions, and not winning the game. However, the kid still looked good overall. He is going to do some exciting things this year, and likely still get drafted this year. Enjoy him while he is here. He is one of the best quarterbacks USU has ever seen, and easily be the best we have for a long time.

He's no Bernie Kosar.

Love's throwing motion is beautiful.

[Hell of a throw, but even better catch and ability to toe tap in bounds.]

I thought one of this picks was also partially on the receiver. The receiver didn’t come back to the ball on the one. On the other two, it seemed like Love may have gotten a tad greedy and/or over confident in either his or his receivers ability. Gotta know that you can’t take that risk in the last pick. Just get what you can and let Eberle boot us into overtime. We were already well within his range.

Love has a beautiful throwing motion

He needs to develop his footwork and stop staring at his targeted WR's. Simply looking to the other side of the field before he throws over the middle would make it almost impossible for DB's to intercept. This is where Sanford needs to come in and make Love better. Make plays that fit Loves arm and a pocket passer.

The 3 int's yesterday? A fade that the DB undercut. Just a bad under throw, The 2nd one was a quick out that the DB was expecting. Bad call by the coach. The third to end the game was another under throw. Mental mistake by Love. we were already in FG range. He needed to be cautious.

His arm is pro quality

I can see how these decisions might seem overwhelming for some posters, football is complex. It can seem like a single decision doesn't matter because there are too many variables......That wasn't the case with Wake Forest
