It has now been 1000 days since byu -p last beat USU in football. After we beat them this year, at what point do we start asking for a 2 for 1?
Happy 1000 .... and counting .

Eventually, we will need 3 for 1s like they did to us in the 80s.

I think we can stop calling it a rivalry now!

BYU football is in big trouble. Independence won't work forever, and they are not getting into a P5 conference.
Pac-12 won't take them, Big 12 doesn't need 12 teams any more for a conference championship game.
The fact that LDS views on gays and gay marriage will keep them out of any major conference. The Iowa State student government led the charge the last time the Big 12 was looking at them. Iowa State, probably the least influential school in the Big 12. Now, you don't even need 12 teams for a conference championship game.
BYU is also an academic outcast, with their being kept out of academic associations.
BYU's golden age has passed. I predict they will never get back to how they were in the Edwards or even Mendenhall days.

Every time we predict the downfall of BYU sports, they go and rip off a great season or upset. I vote we just stop talking about them and see how it fairs.

Hopefully they continue down their current path which is similar to the Crowton days.

This is a solid comment from NVAggie. That particular organization has the financial capacity to "reboot" and "relaunch" when they think events will turn to their strongest benefit, and they have proven both ruthless and resourceful. If we beat them this fall and then later on the B B Court I will enjoy winter so much more.

I hope Ut kicks the living crap out of them and records 4 ints of their super star qb and sacks him another 5 times. Then the utes can lose their next 10 games.

I'd much prefer them to have a dogfight for the entire game. As far as who wins I don't care much.
As far as the utes after the game, I want them to hit a losing streak but somehow end up with enough wins/position so that they can play USU at the Vegas Bowl where the defense smokes them and the Jordans shred their defense like pulled pork.
Meanwhile I hope BYU is doing poor enough that USU is a must-win for them but well enough so that their fans are arrogant. I want to TAKE things for them. I want to watch their smug smiles fade into mourning. I want to see their hopes at a bowl game come crashing down with every TD pass J. Love throws to J. Nathan.
I want both of these games to be against healthy teams so that the SLC media has no choice to say it. USU has the best football program in the state and that they do more with less.

I loved last year's BYU/UofU game. UofU won, but were so grump about the way the game went they felt like they lost.
Perfect.

BYUVU-P has been about right recently. I want them to get 5-7 wins each year. Just enough to keep doing what they are doing (if 5 wins is enough for them...)

I am sure independence will work out for them. They just need to stick with it. Sooner or later it will pay off. It was and is a great idea. They just need to have the forsight to stick with.
