List your reasons for why Utah State should beat BYU
For me
#1 it's an in-state game and it's always time to prove that Utah State is overlooked.
#2 because it's an old rivalry
#3 because their fan base is so delusional
#4 recruiting
#5 because they need to be put back into their place after every off-season makes them forget about how many games they lost last season
#6 to put on one of the biggest shows of the year in front of Maverick Stadium navy blue
#7 because I want to see Wilson cry
#8 because I'm just happy when they lose
#9 because we all have family who likes them and they need an Aggie awakening. I know. Wishful thinking.
#10 because all of the other mwc teams will be doing it too and we need to show that our victory is greater.
... Now you.

I have a one more.
#11 because they can't handle and prepare for our defense and Jordan Love's ability to pick them apart.

Their sophomore quarterback looked pretty good in the bowl game. He may be a test for our secondary.

It's not hard to find their touted talent. Media and their fan base makes sure that everyone knows.Aggiestyle wrote: ↑July 29th, 2019, 9:04 amTheir sophomore quarterback looked pretty good in the bowl game. He may be a test for our secondary.
And certainly they are capable of beating almost anyone. That goes without saying.

Because the player from USU I think wins the Lou Groza Award.
BYU has put their head coach in a must win situation. By November the coach will likely have one foot out the door. Either off to a better job, or as an analyst for Alabama.

Re: List your reasons for why Utah State should beat BYU
Strange list . . . .
Seems as though the reasons we "should" beat BYU-Provo is a short list of one item: we're a better football team.
The reasons we "want" to beat them might vary from fan to fan, but for me it essentially boils down to tipitup's reason: they're an Aggie opponent. I want the Ags to beat ALL opponents.

Because their entire team is made up of DB's.

Re: List your reasons for why Utah State should beat BYU
Because we have sown seeds of doubt into BYU’s mind. They used to never imagine loosing to lowly Utah Farm College and felt superior in every way. To be honest, our players felt less than their equals and often played intimidated for years. Well the tide has turned and now our players feel they are on the superior team, with superior coaching, and equally as good of talent...all of which are true. The Aggies approach that game expecting to win now and BYU sees that and is afraid.

Re: List your reasons for why Utah State should beat BYU
The reason is real simple USU will win because USU over achieves "YBU" will lose because they under achieve.
If USU had their facilities, and resources we would have gotten in the B-12 a few years back.
They are about as close to a complete failure as you can get.

Re: List your reasons for why Utah State should beat BYU
As much as I want to beat them there are other teams I want to be beat just as badly (Wake, SDSU, Fresno and Boise). Don't get me wrong I really despise the Y, but that is not the game I am most looking forward to.

Re: List your reasons for why Utah State should beat BYU
We will beat them because we are a better program than they are. Beating them is important because it forces the local media to put USU in the conversation with the U and the Y. They need to be FORCED to talk about us, they won't do it willingly. The Y is the media darlings of the Deseret News and KSL, beating BYU forces them to acknowledge us.

Re: List your reasons for why Utah State should beat BYU
I honestly feel the same way about this game as I do Air force or CSU, as I believe that BYU is around the same caliber of football team as these two teams these days. They will be fairly evenly matched with us going in, and may even beat us some years, but in all reality, I expect us to win the game because our players are better coached, and harder workers with the will to win. Looking back at the past 4-6 years BYU would be lucky to finish 4th place in the MWC. It will be the same this year. I honestly can't for the life of me understand what kind of great transformation has happened at our sister school to the south to make the fans think the results would be any different this year. It is the same poor coaching staff, doing the same thing they have been doing for the past several years, with the same caliber of players. The results should be the same.

Re: List your reasons for why Utah State should beat BYU
Did you not hear the news.... oh my gosh. Then I guess I get to be the one to tell you. The cougars have taken their roster and added future NFL players all over the field. It’s been a tough preseason, without a preseason national championship, but they are building to next season with preseason wins over rivals Boise State and Utah State. Their preseason game against Utah is going into overtime with the cougs not giving up any chance of a victory of the Yewts, even claiming a preemptive moral victory before the end of the preseason against the preseason kings of the PAC-12.captain68 wrote:I honestly feel the same way about this game as I do Air force or CSU, as I believe that BYU is around the same caliber of football team as these two teams these days. Re: List your reasons for why Utah State should beat BYU
I’ll give you three reasons:
1. They’re really thin in the secondary (even with their team consisting of mostly db’s)
2. They lack an quality pass rusher.
3. Jordan Love against

Re: List your reasons for why Utah State should beat BYU
1. We have more talent and depth
2. We are better coached
3. The quality of our coaching staff is the same caliber (probably a little better) after the changes
4. Our quarterback is SOOOO much better
5. They still to this day write off USU as an automatic win, so they may not bother to prepare as well as they should
6. It’s at home
I’m sure many people south of Cache Valley would try and dispute #1, to which I would simply suggest watching the film from last year instead of chest-pounding about wins from the 70s and 80s
