KAR: CSU naming rights deal
CSU is getting $37.7MM over 15 years to name their new stadium from Public Service Credit Union. I can't recall exactly what USU is getting from Maverick - does anyone else? I'm sure it's not close to this amount.
"Public Service Credit Union is paying CSU $37.7 million for a 15-year agreement, although a formal new name for the stadium will not be announced Thursday. That funding, combined with an anonymous $20 million pledge two years ago to name the field after former coach Sonny Lubick, puts CSU’s combined total naming rights income among the largest in college football. USC has a $69 million deal with United Airlines for the naming rights to Memorial Coliseum. Washington has a $41 million agreement with Alaska Airlines for Husky Stadium."

Re: KAR: CSU naming rights deal
You get what you can, USU does not have alum support or a location that has big corporate money. CSU has a vet school is in a progessive city with over 160,000 residents. I would like to know who would give more than $6.3 million for a stadium naming in Logan ?
We could not come close to the $20 million they got for the field naming that they got for Sonny, If memory serves USU had trouble getting $1 million for Merlin Olsen field.

Re: KAR: CSU naming rights deal
Can Maverik's naming rights be bought out? ALSO who has better name recognition? Sometime's it's better to be associated with a bigger, more well known brand, even if it is less money, the exposure might make up for it. Maverk already has naming rights for the old E-Center, and they are a well known and beloved (in many cases) brand. I also have it on GOOD authority* that Maverik has plans to expand into California w/in the next few years. That will be YUUUUUGE!

Honest question, 18 fiscal years, calendar years, school years, or dog years?

It ends in 2037. I don't know when in 2037 though so it's hard to know. I'm guessing it ends in January as that is the month that the contract went into effect.LarryTheAggie wrote: ↑April 19th, 2018, 3:20 pmHonest question, 18 fiscal years, calendar years, school years, or dog years?

I'm not quick with numbers, but that looks like more than 18 years.ProvoAggie wrote: ↑April 19th, 2018, 4:24 pmIt ends in 2037. I don't know when in 2037 though so it's hard to know. Wrong. It is always better to have more money. No one is going to say. “Oh well I wasn’t going to go to this game but MAVERIK sponsors this stadium so now I’m all in!”ViAggie wrote: ↑April 19th, 2018, 2:08 pmCan Maverik's naming rights be bought out? Conversely, no Aggie fan will say, “I was going to get season tickets this year, but now that I know the stadium is sponsored by a credit union I don’t want to be associated with such a rinky-dink program.”

Fair point, but you'll never hear about the Aggie Football game from the Grocery Store Workers Credit Union will you?YoungBloodAggie wrote: ↑April 19th, 2018, 11:34 pmWrong. Re: KAR: CSU naming rights deal
People talked about the Maverik deal including a big chunk of money up front. Was that not actually the case? I don't think I've seen any official documents. Do any of our insiders know?

Re: KAR: CSU naming rights deal
If NAR is Not Aggie Related, I would think KAR is Kinda Aggie Related, since this was inevitably going to bring up the Maverik naming deal.ChicAggie wrote:Honest question: what the heII does the "K" stand for?LarryTheAggie wrote: ↑April 19th, 2018, 3:20 pmHonest question, 18 fiscal years, calendar years, school years, or dog years?

That's what I was assuming, but wasn't sure . . . . Perhaps "Knot Aggie Related."

Re: KAR: CSU naming rights deal
We were lucky to get the real we got for the Naming rights.
I was in Vegas listening to a National sports guy (I didn't catch his name) they were talking about the Mountain West teams and the ZAGS, the conversation rotated to football and the national guy say that the league really needs to look at how they can get better schools in the bottom half of the league, he then said like Utah State it's a beautiful place good facilities but no TV's. He said that the TV's have now all turned to Utah and the PAC 12 and BYU will get the Mormon TV's so there's not many viewers left for Utah State.
Now with that look at the number of National games we have this year 2 the lowest in the league. This brings us back to the Naming rights if no one Utah is watching our games why give Utah State even a 10 million dollar deal there is no ROI.
