Re: Do we trade Tukuafu for Ula?
Nope. Ula is one of the reasons that Tukuafu bailed. The old East High buddies were on their official visits here together last December. Plus Ula is in some honor code trouble. Not to mention he can't hang on to the football.BeNo wrote::D

That would be awesome. Hopefully they kick him out over it.BeNo wrote::D

I would take Ula on this team in a second.

I keep wondering if we will throw our hat in the ring on Bernard now that he has been released. I know his relatives say his intention is to go to the U but it can never hurt just in case the Utes have other plans.

Agreed. Ula is a fantastic player, and has been incredibly underutilized for BYU this season. I very VERY much doubt it’s even a possibility, but I’d accept him in a heartbeat.GeoAg wrote:I would take Ula on this team in a second.

Ula has had ball security issues all year. He is big Ave a strong runner with lots of potential.

Re: Do we trade Tukuafu for Ula?
This brings up a couple of interesting questions. Let's say some kids want to transfer from BYU, or verbal commits back out. Utah still has to live under NCAA FBS rules. They have 85 scholarships. How many kids can they accommodate, and still take the kids that they already specifically wanted? If Utah doesn't have room for them, do we make room for some of them? And OK, I'm not saying this is the likely scenario, but what if BYU has another year like this, 3-9 or 4-8? What if they have four or five years like this? And at the same time, we find our footing and are having 9-3 or 8-4 years, consistently going to bowl games, and getting a division championship every 2-3 years. Does our in state recruiting pick up? Some of those 3 star kids that weren't a fit for Utah start looking at us instead of the Y?

How many of their players are D1 material. Some are of course, but man do they suck.

Re: Do we trade Tukuafu for Ula?
In reading some of the articles they note that Ula was cited after the Boise game and that the coaches were aware of the incident.
They go on to say he played at East Carolina and Mississippi State after he was caught. Does this mean byu has changed their Honor code to allow marijuana consumption. I think Wells would have sat out one of our players for at least one or two games if the same thing has happened

I'm sure those kids that are below Tukuafu on the depth chart and are abiding by the Honor Code are very pleased with the coaches decision to play him over them.AGGIEFIGHT wrote:In reading some of the articles they note that Ula was cited after the Boise game and that the coaches were aware of the incident.

Re: Do we trade Tukuafu for Ula?
Is this the guy who got caught drinking a while back when that video with the cops surfaced where they were threatening to tattle on him to the coach that he was breaking the honor code? The same one who just got a DUI? Or is this another missionary "tool"?

I guess this is a different guy. The third charged in the last couple of weeks for drug related "crimes".
I found this interesting:
I found this interesting:
He originally signed with Wisconsin after producing one of the most prolific offensive careers for a running back in Utah prep history at East. However, after former Utah State coach Gary Andersen left the UW program for Oregon State, Tolutau decided to transfer to BYU when he returned home from an LDS Church mission to Bakersfield, Calif.
