Over/Under 4.5 Wins
You have to bet half your savings account one way or another. Which way are you betting on USU football this season?

It's common for sports books to include .5 in the win and point totals so that there are no pushes.taniataylor wrote:Dumb Question.....What is a .5 of a win????

Re: Over/Under 4.5 Wins
It will be under, and we might not even get to last year's total. I'm envious of the optimism and short memories of my Aggie brethren. Last year was not an anomaly, but rather the unsurprising result of an obvious trajectory. I think you're putting a little too much hope in Yost. Don't forget that we were pretty excited in 2015 for our new offensive coordinator. We finished that year losing 5 of our last 7 games, which carried over into the debacle of a 3-9 season.

Oh c'mon, you think we might not match three wins? Schedule is easier than you think, and all three west division opponents are ranked lower than us. I think six wins is very achievable.AgMac wrote:It will be under, and we might not even get to last year's total. I'm envious of the optimism and short memories of my Aggie brethren. Idaho State, San Jose State, UNLV, Hawaii and New Mexico are teams I think we can beat with an improved offense. Win those and offset any loss with a win against any of the other 7 teams and you have 5 wins. I don't think it's just about Yost and short memories. I remember him out coaching Chris Peterson and Roscoe Mendenhall (although Wittingham out coached him), and hope he can get back to that rather than the end of the New Mexico game the last year. MW coached the last 19 games and also the 34 before that.

Re: Over/Under 4.5 Wins
Half my savings? 0/2=0 which I bet on USU to get 5 wins. Which they do. But then 0x0=0 so.... Crap!

Re: Over/Under 4.5 Wins
I think we will be 3-9 again with the real possibilty of being worse. I wish it wasn't so, but the reality is this program is nowhere near where it was 3-4 years ago. Not even close.sambonethegreat wrote:

Re: Over/Under 4.5 Wins
I'm guessing that before last season, there were many similar posts on Fresno State's fanboard about Deruyter.Full wrote: Idaho State, San Jose State, UNLV, Hawaii and New Mexico are teams I think we can beat with an improved offense. Re: Over/Under 4.5 Wins
I don't think DeRuyter experienced the staff turnover Wells did, to be fair. This season will tell us a lot about what kind of coach Matt really is.AgMac wrote:I'm guessing that before last season, there were many similar posts on Fresno State's fanboard about Deruyter.Full wrote: Idaho State, San Jose State, UNLV, Hawaii and New Mexico are teams I think we can beat with an improved offense. Re: Over/Under 4.5 Wins
It's good to see a little more optimism among the fans. 80% over 4.5 is honestly more generous than I anticipated our Debby Downer fans to vote (I know, I Know, everyone's just trying to be realistic and not get their hopes up, etc.)

Re: Over/Under 4.5 Wins
He certainly needs to improve as an HC to have a winning season this year. I think he can. Handing the offense completely over was a huge positive, IMO.sambonethegreat wrote:I don't think DeRuyter experienced the staff turnover Wells did, to be fair. Re: Over/Under 4.5 Wins
I admire the optimism, but Wells has ruined every new offense we've had since we started getting new offenses. The defenses have gotten progressively worse, and I don't see anyone in the front seven this year that would make me feel differently. The best possible scenario is to lose Wells early after a couple big losses and hopefully see some sort of turnaround with an interim coach.
Cue a bunch of hardasses telling me that rooting for Wells to fail is what's wrong with this site.

Re: Over/Under 4.5 Wins
Based on a convo I had with unnamed Offensive player during Spring ball, Coach Wells is much more in the backseat of the offense than previous seasons. Yost really is in charge of things.YoungBloodAggie wrote:I admire the optimism, but Wells has ruined every new offense we've had since we started getting new offenses. Re: Over/Under 4.5 Wins
I would love to believe that things will turn around and we will get five wins, but I think it is much more likely that we get three wins than five wins. So I'm taking the under on this one.

Over for sure. We just need some breaks where we got none last season!
