SuckDogs to Watch: Defensive Players

Post by USU78 » October 19th, 2015, 2:07 pm

DLs:

Barrett (# 58 6'3 260 Jr), 30 Tackles, 6.5 TFL, 1.5 Sacks, 1 QH, 1 INT, 1 PBU
Sanchez (# 99 6'2 255 Sr), 21 Tackles, 5.5 TFL, 3.0 Sacks, 1 PBU
Turner (# 41 6'3 255 So), 15 Tackles, 4.0 TFL, 1 QH
Hall (# 95 6'3 265 Fr), 14 Tackles, 4.5 TFL. 0.5 Sacks, 2 QH
Heywood (# 92 6'3 300 Sr), 13 Tackles, 2.0 TFL, 1.0 Sacks, 1 PBU, 1 FR, 1 FF

Only one guy looks like a tackle here, Heywood. The SuckDogs are definitely going for quickness over strength, but I'm thinking that won't make much different on 3rd and 1 ... the LBs fill very well and it's going to take serious effort to make those -- - and - shorts against these guys. On the other hand, we have # 32 with # 21 blocking for him. And # 2 making seriously professional-level reads out there as a Soph. I think we get 160 yards +/- rushing against these guys.

LBs:

Munson (# 54 6'1 240 Jr), 50 Tackles, 11.0 TFL, 7.0 Sacks, 2 QH, 2 INT, 2 PBU, 1 FR, 1 FF
Fely (# 42 5'10 220 Sr), 44 Tackles, 6.5 TFL, 1.0 Sack, 2 PBU, 1 FF
Dunn (# 57 6'3 230 So), 26 Tackles, 2.5 TFL
Ricks (# 40 6'5 230 Jr), 13 Tackles 2.0 TFL, 1.0 Sack 4 QH, 3 PBU

Munson and Fely are serious studs, combining for 17.5 TFL and 8 Sacks, as well as 94 Tackles. Very firepluggish and hard for taller OLs to knock off their feet. Their aggressiveness speaks for itself. They are going to be tough to find and harder to block if there is anything like a letdown after the Boazy game.

DBs:

Kazee (# 23 5'11 185 Jr), 43 Tackles, 3.5 TFL, 5 INT, 3 PBU, 1 FF
Smith (# 12 6'0 190 Jr), 41 Tackles, 2.5 TFL, 1 QH, 3 PBU, 1 FF
McGee (# 21 6'0 200 Jr), 37 Tackles, 1.0 TFL, 1 QH, 4 PBU
Kelly (# 27 6'2 195 So), 33 Tackles, 3 PBU
Whittaker (# 7 5'10 180 Sr), 24 Tackles, 1 QH, 2 INT, 6 PBU
Romain (# 13 5'8 170 Sr), 10 Tackles, 1 PBU

The TFLs tell a nice story of blitzes and good run support. Kazee and Whittaker are definitely ball hawks, and all of them have decent PBU numbers. Passing game is going to have to be highly creative this week.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
