McKay is a trauma 2, the only trauma 1 that we have in utah is IMC in murray and University of Utah. It is better that they went to Ogden instead of further south. And yes you are correct that they will take them to the appropriate hospital with the injuries in mind unless they are unstable and they need to get them to the nearest one to stabilize them.

Man, I am rooting so hard for these guys right now. Anytime something happens like this it is so sad, but when they're aggie football players it almost feels like family to me.

I was told one of them did have breathing tubes in his mouth.

The reason they flew the one was because of the length of time it took to extricate him, not the severity of the injuries. Length of extrication time is part of the protocol on whether to fly or not. The one they took to Ogden was in and out of consciousness. I do understand that they've called another chopper to Logan Regional though, so we'll see. Hope all is well.

This obviously sucks for reasons far beyond football. Here's to hoping for a full recovery for a long and healthy life.

Wonder if these players were heading to, or from, helping out some other local farmers in the community, like the article from the other day.

Thoughts and prayers from your UNM conference mates.

Only the best to these young men (and the people involved in the crash).

Should clarify, HJ stated those names were the injured. Did not release names of others.

The Utah Highway Patrol reports several Utah State University football players have been seriously injured in a crash with a semi truck this afternoon.

According to Lt. Lee Perry said Travis Seefeldt has been flown to Ogden Regional Hospital in critical condition, while John Taylor, Edmund Faimalo and Adewale Adeoye were transported by ambulance to Logan Regional Hospital with broken bones.

In addition, Sara Vasquez was initially transported by ambulance to Logan Regional Hospital as well, but later flown out of the valley, also in critical condition.

I really hate hearing this whenever an accident is reported:

"None of the five were wearing seatbelts."

This is correct. Two people were released at the scene. Four were flown or driven by ambulance to regional hospitals.
The paper said that there was a girl who was in the wreck too and was also flown out. So 4 players + 1 girl= 5 people.

Right. Initial reports were confusing as they also included the two males in the semi. They were released at the scene with no injuries. The female was taken to Logan Regional, and then flown to another hospital.

This is from a second hand source but:

Travis was life flighted with a couple broken ribs and a collapsed lung, but looks like he will be OK. John is OK, Wale has a broken leg. Sounds like Edmund will be OK too.

The girl is not doing well at all. Name is Sarah Vasquez.

If That's the extent of the football players injuries they are very fortunate based on the pictures of the crash

Hopefully Sarah can pull through

The football guys are super lucky if that's all that happened after getting t-boned by a semi while not wearing seat belts.

Really hope Sarah will be ok.

I hope it isn't too crass to be talking about the practical implications already, but this probably means that Adeoye is out for at least a few games, if not the whole season, depending on which bone is broken and how badly. With broken ribs and a collapsed lung, Seefeldt TECHNICALLY should be back for the season, but this totally blows up his summer conditioning. Make no mistake, this is a bit of a hit to the defense.
