Apologies for outage
Sincere apologies for the down time this morning. ViAggie came over and spilled his beer on the server.
There were actually 10's of thousands of websites down on the web due to problems traced back to a data center in Provo of all places, and ours happened to be one of them. Seriously, the problem is likely the work of sorry incompetent byu grads. What do you expect?

Re: Apologies for outage
According to sources it's actually run by BYU students. And no I'm not joking.

Yeah, not good for them...some places now reporting that over 2M websites were affected.
Here's a makeshift website made by EIG, the parent company of our host company, in an effort to try and keep everyone up to date on the situation: http://enduranceresponse.com/

That's what they get for relying on BlueHost. Had I known they had acquired them I would've had second thoughts about hosting USUStats there. I'm researching other options now.

I've hosted with bluehost in the past, have liked it and also like to support a Utah company... having said that, it bums me out that they're in Provo and etc...

Bluehost blows. We used to have our office next to them and I knew some people that worked there. They are terrible and really don't know what they are doing. We were moved there unknowingly as we are still technically through Host gator.

Is there a really good hosting company based in Utah?ProvoAggie wrote:Bluehost blows. We used to have our office next to them and I knew some people that worked there. Re: Apologies for outage
It would be tempting but I think it's against the terms. I can look into it though.

I'm pretty sure you're right. I saw something about that on the tech forum I'm on. Didn't read the article tho. It'd be really awesome if you could tho. I don't know how much hosting a server costs but if you could have it on your home network, I'm sure it would be cheaper.ProvoAggie wrote:It would be tempting but I think it's against the terms.
