Hiding Forums

Post by AgMan21 » October 10th, 2019, 10:25 am

It would be nice to be able to hide what forums we want to see on the Forum page. I'm one of those people that hates having "unread" alerts on my screen so I have to click into the Sandbox Forum (i.e. the Swamp) just to hit mark all as read to get rid of it. I would love it if I could just hide the Sandbox altogether.

We don't have anyway to open that functionality up to users but as Admins we can remove forums. I've removed the Sandbox for your account.

I've set it up so that anyone should be able to join the No Sandbox group now. Just go here:
ucp.php?i=393

and join the No Sandbox group.

@ProvoAggie I've really wanted to join the No Sandbox group as my feed is overly cluttered with political threads, but I have held off as sometimes there is good content that has no other place but the sandbox. I'm interested in threads about music, or grilling/smoking meat, or numerous other topics.

Would it be possible to split the sandbox so that politics and anything that needs to die goes there, but we have a new forum for all other non-sports (and non-political) related threads?

I like this idea. I would also be interested in having a non-sports/non-politics 'sandbox' and maybe non-sports/politics 'litterbox' option.

We probably won't split the Sandbox. Unfortunately it just gives another area that has to be moderated.

Many of the best sandbox threads would be perfectly fine in the general sports forum.
Grilling meat - tailgating
Listening to music - tailgating, driving to games
Favorite podcasts - driving to games
Funny crap - because reasons
Favorite movies & tv - stuff to watch when the only sports on tv is a BYU or Utah game
