Re: Usu Basketball Cards

Mock up looks awesome. How many cards per pack? A full team set? And will a pack come with an obnoxiously hard and brittle stick of gum whose flavor leaves after 30 seconds? Oh come on!! You are exaggerating big time. Of course, I haven't collected cards since the late 50's and 60's, but back then ...

Free throw shooting by Dorius, Anthony and Anderson in that 2nd half stretch just killed us. Please tell Bean to stop taking 3 point shots. Taking 3 of them in the game is not a good recipe for success. He has an awesome 15 point shot. There is a reason people are leaving you wide open. Take a few ...

Re: Usu Basketball Cards

Hello everybody, I am starting to design USU basketball cards again for this year for a graphic design project for a class. I was wondering if there would be interest amongst enough of you that I should pursue actually printing and selling them this year. So, two questions for you: 1. Would you wan...

Re: Dorius

He is definitely not going to replace Queta's production or effectiveness on both ends of the floor, but he is a serviceable player. Smith will have to change up the offensive and defensive scheme to match his abilities, but he can be of value to another great Aggie team.

Dorius

I haven't seen it mentioned here, but.....

How about that put-back dunk by Dorius? His game needs some polishing, but he is not a stiff out there. I think he brings some good value to the team and has two more years to get better. Practicing against Queta has got to be helping him.

Re: Welcome back to earth

I'm not going to say it was due to specific aggie players, I think that's a good coach we faced, he made adjustments and he put us into situations that were to his players benefit. Good news is that now Smith can see what's effective against us and what other teams will try to do, and he can game p...

Just saw that. Hamerin' Hank was definitely an American icon and hero to many. I was too young to remember watching Hank play, but his name is all over record books and trivia questions that I engage in with my brothers and friends. RIP, Henry.

Lost Don Sutton the other day, too.

Re: zone

Medved took a chance last night with his game plan and it paid off. Medved got the best of Smith. In game 1, CSU didn't double the post as quickly or as much. Queta was given space to work onne-on-one and either shot it or had time/space to make a pass. The USU wings in game 1 hit their shots. The d...

I like that both Knight and White mentioned playing "violently" or "a-- hole-ness". You need a little nasty to be good on the lines. A$$hole-ness is probably the most original quote I've had in all of my interviews. I loved it! I'm going to use that in my next job interview when they ask me what qu...

He is an enigma. After his first two games, I was ready to relegate him to the bench in favor of the European freshmen. HIs shooting form was horrible and he struggled to score. His free throw percentage coming in was like 65% - which is unacceptable for a "shooting" guard. He was praised for his de...

This league has seen some extraordinarily talented UNLV, Fresno State, and UNM teams come through in the recent past. None of them were even really close to winning the conference regular season or tournament. The coach makes a big difference.

I don't think he's playing solid. He has hit a few shots, but he is turning the ball over a lot. He loses control a lot when drives into the lane and loses the ball or gets an offensive foul. He gets pushed out of position on rebounds, too.

Dorius has some abilty. He needs to work on his hands and positioning, but he could be a serviceable center. He is strong and is not clumsy. He has no range at all, but he wouldn't be called on to be a scorer, necessarily. Go watch the SDSU game from Saturday. He had the ball at the foul line on the...

This is going to be a fun game to watch with some of the mismatches. It will be interesting to see how Ashworth does on Moore. Yes - Queta is the great equalizer under the basket. Roddy isn't going to be able to simply back Bean or Anderson down and shoot layups. Queta will be lurking on the weak side to help at the rim. Not having Carvacho to worry about makes Queta's job of doubling the post much easier.

I have to imagine it is very tough to be away from friends and family. I worry about fatigue setting in for these next two games. The team played hard for two solid games against SDSU - they are young but they could be tired. Ashworth gets beat up pretty good fighting through screens- that has to take a toll. Fatigue can lead to foul trouble as well as an off shooting ...
