SDSU will probably drop to 2 now. Florida State or Dayton will pass them up.

Re: Sam is officially greatest USU ever

Agreed. Estes was and is a legend, but I think we tend to give him an untouchable status because of how he passed. Sam put a very mediocre basketball team on his shoulders and carried them to the championship against SDSUs best team ever. What a foolish thing to say. Wayne did what he did in just 7...

Also give credit to Coach Smith for ending Brock Miller's green light. Miller took zero shots tonight. We could not have survived a 1-7 type game from Miller.

Yep as amazing as his game winner was, his 7-0 run when we were getting rolled might have been bigger. It might not have even been a close game if he doesn't go into superstar mode there.

Obviously I hope we win a tournament game, but I really hope we win one for Merrill. Icing on the cake to a legendary career. Maybe 2. We will be playing an inferior team than San Diego State.

Re: Sam is officially greatest USU ever

Jaycee was better statistically and his 3% was incredible, but Merrill has a killer instinct that I don't think even Carroll had. Jaycee could never go one on one like that for a game-winner. Nope and unfortunately Jaycee had a chance to hit a game winner to win the conference championship against ...

We pretty much have to win today. We will need some people that are very friendly in the committee room to get in if we don't. NBC Sports currently has us as the outside looking in and we have nothing more we can do to get an at-large bid. Today is the championship for the MW and our play in game fo...

Honestly announcers do that in March. They love underdog stories. Wyoming being the last place team in the league and being tied late in the semifinals are the stories March is made of. He might get one more year since Gar Forman is a terrible GM and him firing another coach only further proves how incompetent he is at his job.

Interestingly enough Gar Forman was a graduate assistant at Utah State in the 80's.

Well we are basically in the title game. We aren't losing to Wyoming. I'd rather be safely in, but I do like that it all comes down to a championship game against a top 10 team to get into the tournament. We'll see what our team is made of. If we can beat San Diego State in a do or die neutral site...

Re: Wyoming is leading under 5 minutes left in the game

This sucks. Hurts our net ranking by probably 3-4 spots if we were to win tomorrow. Which we would’ve had to do regardless to have a chance. After we lost to New Mexico last week it meant we had to win this tournament to get in. A win against an average Nevada team wouldn't do it. I actually like w...

Utah is not a great team, but we have proved that we can lose to very mediocre teams. Can you imagine how disappointing it would be to end the season getting beat by Utah. Utah would be excited to be in the NIT and on the other hand USU would probably be disappointed not making the NCAA tournament....

Re: Oklahoma bumps USU from the bubble ...

Yeah my 2 cents and (I hope) that is all it is worth is that we have to win the tournament to get in. We have zero shot to improve our resume other than beat SDSU which of course would put us in the tournament anyway. Hopefully we get it done. I wouldn't mind an NIT run if we took it seriously. Winning the nit would be a great accomplishment. I know the op is trolling, but beating 5 quality teams in a single elimination tournament would be impressive. San Diego state failed to do it even with a great team in 16.

Home court advantage isnt just about crowd size. It is not having to travel and playing in an arena you are comfortable. It is an advantage for unlv, but it is also the best location for the tournament. The mw tried to have it in denver for a few years and attendance was atrocious.

Just to give some further context as to what we're watching: There are 122 D-1 players who have shot 166 or more threes this season. (Miller is at 182 attempts.) Out of those 122, Miller ranks 121st in 3PT percentage. The good news is that he would have to miss his next 25 attempts to overtake last...
