Re: Butler

Yep, top 25 team with a good coach that comes out of a timeout with a terribly executed plan. Just saying the things Duryea takes heat for often occur with good teams that are well coached. If you judge coaches that strictly all coaches will look bad. Duryea will be judged on his overall body of wo...

Duryea was an assistant coach to Stew for 14 years. Merrill knew he would be playing for Duryea.

The Spetrum has had many great years through history, but from about 2003-2011 it was pure magic. The teams were great and the atmosphere was incredible. Wesley and Newbold went something like 67-1 at home during their Aggie careers. Having been a student during their careers and only missing a gam...

You know how we can get students out? WIN! I mean, that's obviously the biggest one. But I love the effort, and I love the graphic. Keep stuff like this coming! I'm part of the dedicated few students who get there early and sit on the front row of every game this year, but there's still more excite...

Seriously Butler is your example? Butler is 14-2, first place in the Big East and recently defending champion Villanova's long winning streak that extended to last season. I don't know if Duryea can coach. The jury is still out, but this past week the lineup change is a good sign. Even if Duryea was...

If Les Miles was a real possibility, than you definitely make that hire, but I doubt we could afford him.

It might not be his last year if Yost improves the offense as much as some believe. Unless they do the college version of what the Tampa Bay Buccaneers did last year when their offensive coordinator started getting offers from other places. They fired their HC and promoted the OC. I doubt USU would...

MaverickAggie, I think you worry too much about coaches leaving. Coaches leaving after having success is where we want to be. In our last 5 coaches we have had 3 that were fired after 3 win seasons, one coach who left for a Big ten school, and our current coach who enters next season on the hot seat...

New Mexico is not very good, but neither are we. Good win for this team. Definite improvement and like how they kept the pressure on New Mexico and didn't fade like against Boise State. UNLV is a bad team this year too so another game we should win. Koby is going to be a really good player at USU.

Every home game is winnable. Teams within the same conference don't overmatch opponents as easily in basketball as in football. Especially games where the superior team is the away team. With the league where it is now, you are pretty much correct. Some years there are dominant teams that you canno...

Why is Kohn Smith an "inside hire" and Stew an "outside hire"? Neither of them was employed by USU before they took the USU job. Both of them (presumably) accepted the job due to their ties to Logan/the state of Utah. I would have classified both of them as "outside hires" personally. Kohn was Tuel...

I agree Saban and Meyer are two of the top coaches. I think there are several other coaches a tier below them that could reach that status in the next 3-5 years if they continue to have strong seasons and get a Championship or two. Sweeney, Petersen, and Harbaugh come immediately to mind. Dabo has ...

I think many people still hate Urban because he ran up the score on us in 2003. What people forget is he showed mercy to us in 2004. Utah could have beat us 100 to 0 that year. Hopefully USU will get back to 2012 level where we could compete with pretty much everyone.

Impressive performance by Clemson. If you beat Urban Meyer it is cause for celebration. 61-6 at Ohio State. Better winning percentage for Urban there than Saban at Alabama. 33.3% of Saban's losses while at Alabama occurred in his first year. He inherited a program in a different place than urban in...
