Re: While on the Subject of Future Games...
I am wondering what folks think the biggest benefit we get playing byu is? - money? Not a money game - better attendance? Yes, every other year, so maybe a little bump in money. - helps with recruiting? Maybe, if we win, but it's not opening other recruiting areas, we're already known in the area -...

Re: While on the Subject of Future Games...
There is no possible viewpoint from which BYU needs this game more than Utah State. It is possible that the game is equally meaningful to both sides, or not irreplaceable, but I would be hard pressed to find evidence that BYU "needs" the game more than we do. Utah State sells seats in Provo. The be...

When we do play Oregon will we also have to play another money game along with it? Along with playing byu and boise every year that could a very tough schedule. Sounds like the chuck shelton years. Tough for any coach to do. That’s what we are doing this year with Washington and Washington st Washi...

Re: Non-conference opponents in the 2020s so far
I feel like a lower quality p5 like Oregon state or even cal could be scheduled on a 1-1 basis. Look at us with Washington state. Or look at Utah with Wyoming or sjsu or northern Illinois (the list for them goes on). It seems overall the pac 12 teams don’t have near the money (makes sense as the Co...

Re: Proposed Transfer rule change
I think the largest impact this will have is on second string P5 QB’s. My guess is QB battles go into fall camp every season and there is some recruiting done through the spring ball depth chart. This might even cause some of the starting QB’s to jump if they have options, but the QB position is tal...

I haven’t seen this posted anywhere, but SP+ projections for next season were released. It paints an ugly season if it’s right. Mountain West teams: 38. Boise 65. Air Force 74. SDSU 79. CSU 80. Wyoming 94. Fresno State 99. Hawaii 100. Utah State 108. San Jose 110. Nevada 121. UNLV 122. New Mexico Ot...

I wonder if they still ended the separate negotiations for Boise and their special veto power for a TV deal. Boise has a lot more leverage with those in place.

The original contract signed by the MWC and BSU calls for a $1.8 million dollars extra to be paid to BSU, if we do not do that then we are not honoring that agreement . I’ll just add I think the big heads take away from the intimidation the Hurd has at its height. The variations they had always gave something new for opposing players. Now it’s the same giant heads every shot. Get off my lawn!

Re: MWC?
You are right about the loss of revenue if BSU leaves it could be as much as $2 million, which would be the same as what USU fans pay of tickets in a year, it would be a huge loss in revenue. If the amount is just an annual amount for USU, it would make a $20 million dollar a year decrease for the ...

Re: Looks like Boise State is suing the Mountain West.
I think this will get settled, imho the MWC doesn’t have a leg to stand on. What is the settlement? From what I can tell Boise is getting their $1.8 for six more years. I don’t know what there is to settle. Do they want to rip up the recently completed TV deal? Do they want more than the $1.8 extra...

Also, I don't think that Boise is as valuable of a TV commodity as they think they are, or they once were. Everyone here is so damn intimidated by them. Not many college football fans nationwide are making a point to tune into the Boise games that wouldn't tune in to watch other decent teams regard...

Re: Boise fighting the MWC
The problem with your argument is that the AAC is in the position of ESPN having the right to re-negotiate the contract after the announcement that UConn is leaving, meaning your numbers for the AAC are speculative. This is why I think there are a lot of moving parts to this right now, and there ar...

Re: Boise fighting the MWC
Ya'll are coming at this from a scarcity mentality. I get the scar tissues of the past, but we need to get over that. Boise is bluffing, and we need to call it. If they aren't they don't have as good a hand as they think they do. Well that all depends if the AAC isn’t a viable option. What have you...

Great interview with Gary on DJ/PK this morning. Lots of good stuff. I love it. A very winnable game against a team that has the same name recognition as Wake Forest. We play Alabama, Iowa, and likely BYU out-of-conference these years. Props to the admin for the quick addition to the scheduling page.

All of what you just said is true. As is what I said. We have some big markets, some fast growing markets, even a monopoly. Their markets are still bigger. If this is an 6-8 year deal then their is the opportunity to renegotiate before the 12 year AAC deal ends. I’m paying attention to the length of the deal.brownjeans wrote: ↑December 17th, 2019, 10:57 amGetting less than half what the AAC gets doesn't seem like a good deal to me. I understand the market favors eastern teams, but c'mon.

From $1.1 million to just over $3 is a healthy jump. I hope the new deal is short enough that it gives the conference another bite at the apple we while the American is locked in for twelve years. If we have a six year deal and close the gap again, that helps the conference continue to grow. Of cour...

I will say that having a white line rather than a dark line made some of the shots funny as players looked down at their feet to figure out if they were outside the three point line. At the spectrum the white line is the women’s three point line... adding a little bit of uncertainty early in the gam...

I like the Wazzu series, but I also wonder if having two P5 teams, BYU, and an FCS is setting ourselves up to struggle. I like the opportunity to play some of these teams. However, I feel that having to punch above our weight for three games isn’t doing the team any favors.
