Re: Deseret News hit piece on John Hartwell

It’s by Doug Robinson, so of course he’s piling on when the program is down. If there is something to criticize about USU he’s quick to jump on it. He’ll always be the guy that wrote the biased article about renaming the stadium after the remodel. His articles include advocating USU and BYU joining ...

I also was wrong. Even before the Nevada game I had some hope the season could be salvaged... now I just want to see a win this season.

I remember they started to clear some of the snow and it left a foot tall mound of snow near the hashes so they had to delay the game. I love watching in the snow. The rain when it 30-40 degrees is miserable, but put the on some layers and warm clothes and it’s better than the CSU game last year. I ...

All those clamoring for Jay Hill just sit back and watch John Hartwell go to work. There should be very little turnover in coaching, and we’ll have one of the few openings. He can take his time and find the right guy. I trust him more than I hiring Jay Hill.

I will say, feeling zero fan anxiety going into a game knowing the outcome is certain has....a strange appeal. It actually kind of does. I am still going to watch our games and have zero expectations. Last night by the second half I wasn't cheering for a victory, I was just hoping Shelley passed fo...

I’m an eternal optimist. I don’t see a head coaching change happening next season, so I hope there is a way to turn things around before the 2022 season. I’ll be at the Fresno game next weekend and cheering, but I’m just hoping for a competitive game. I think we see a revised depth chart next week. ...

I think we will look better. San Diego State had a lot of returning talent on defense, and Boise is always good. I hope that takes a little pressure off the Defense. However, dropped passes and missed tackles are not something new. It’s a continuation from prior years.

Boise only passed for 178 yards last year. It wasn't the pass the killed us - it was the run (297 yards rushing as a team). Sophomore George Holani ran for 187 yards himself - on just 16 carries. He was getting big chunks of yardage nearly every time he touched the ball. Is he still with them this ...

Wyoming returns five starters on the offensive line, so I'm not sure what you're trying to say with that line Dang. I thought I read there was no returning starters. I’m optimistic about the running game. Look when GA has had a NFL caliber back and a serviceable QB who is a running threat at any time. We also have an offensive line that is not a complete rebuild, that gets to run block first. As for the defense, I think limiting the number of snaps will allow th...

Even when changing coaches I felt like I had a feel for what the team would look like the next year. Honestly, you would have to go back to at least 2009 for me to know less about what to expect going into a season.

What should we expect from Boise?

My guess is 5-2 with one cancellation. I think the ceiling is 7-1 and the basement is 3-5. Aside from Boise, I think we have a 50% chance or greater shot at every team on the schedule. San Diego State - early in the season, new staff, and they had less preparation time. Nevada - This team was young ...

I don’t know how I feel about this. If Boise and Air Force (assuming that’s the two a schools) made the jump they would each have a $5 million exit fee, and that could help out with the loss of a season. We would lose the best football program, but the program that has a built in advantage over othe...
