The NCAA isn't coming to save us
In the interest of board coherence, may I make a suggestion? Stop suggesting that the NCAA do something about NIL, or the free-transfer rule, or essentially anything. It cannot. Every time it goes to court to restrict the rights of players, it loses. Its Enforcement employees are probably hiding und...

Every time I see this thread I read it as not a fan of Subarus. Which is fighting words in Utah. TBF I grew up and my parents had a Subaru station wagon. We also had a Subaru Justy when I was a toddler butone if my sisters took that to college. I think I remembered it, but not really. https://i.pos...

Re: MWC Schools
A few thoughts. In some ways, we're in uncharted territory. There have been several instances of schools leaving one conference for another, or a conference splitting into two conferences, but I can't think of a conference merger . That's more than a technical distinction. The most obvious point is...

Contracts are going to be needed. If the NIL money being given to an athlete is tied to a years, games played, etc. If they are being treated as a professional athlete then they shouldn't be able to hit free agency every year unless they are signing 1 year agreements. All of that requires congressi...

* * * This is also a case of BJ Rains being a drama queen and poor reporter. He is the one who interjected the phrase in his tweet that the coach was "just" fired before the press conference. Ard's words were: "...I just coached my last game at Utah State. I spoke with Diana and their going in a di...

Once in a while there's a Wednesday surprise - remember that Sam and Company had to get through #11 seed Wyoming in the semis before beating SDSU in the 2020 final. Those Pokes were 2-16 coming into the tourney but beat #6 CSU and #3 Nevada to get to the semifinals.

As I said when Craig left : There isn't a coach anywhere on earth that loves USU as much as we do, who can also coach at this level, and whose only professional desire is to coach here for the rest of his career. If I'm wrong, tell me, and cc: Diana Sabau. So by definition everyone who comes here c...

So do you use this development to replace your two weakest OOC games, or your two strongest? In other words bolster your OOC SOS by taking on two Q1/2s, or bolster your NET by RUTSing two Q3/4s? This season replacing Bradley and USF (our best OOCs) with second games against UN and UNLV would have bo...

Going all in on being a Basketball Conference isn't my idea of a viable strategy for the conference, basketball just doesn't bring in the money that football does. The MWC is already a solid basketball league, as long as USU, SDSU, UNLV, Nevada, and New Mexico are in the league and are competitive ...

Don't like that we have two month-long gaps between home games. 9/14-10/12, and 10/19-11/16 - bad for fans if we're doing well, bad for team if we're not. Also don't like having two home games in mid-late Novembrrrrrrr.
