Re: Legas…gone
Ouch. Legas was a leader behind people announcing coming back and was assumedly helpful in getting guys to commit to stay. Not sure who this announcement is a worse look for, Legas or Coach? Pretty obvious to me that it’s Coach A. Always seemed like he was harder on Legas and looked for excuses to b...

2024-25 Staff Jerrod Calhoun - Head Coach Ben Asher - Assistant Coach Eric Brown - Assistant Coach Eric Daniels - Assistant Coach Manny Robinson - Assistant Coach Paul Molinari - Director of Basketball Operations So in theory we could still have 1 additional assistant per NCAA rules. Re: Hillstead Transferring
I feel like this whole situation was easily avoidable. The offensive priority for next season should've been OL to keep your QB's on their feet and off the injury report. Then: 1. Legas as the clear QB1 2. Hillstead as the experienced sophomore and QB of the future 3. Sure, bring in Barnes as your "...

Re: Hillstead Transferring
I’m still not sure why the staff did what they did with the QBs this off season. Bringing in a grad transfer made little sense given that we have a senior starter and a sophomore with a lot of experience. Yet we brought in two grad transfers who had a lot of experience but don’t fit our style of of...

https://twitter.com/rivalsportal/status/1778842397029409165?s=46 This kid is a hooper and we need to do a full court press to go get him. Out of everyone in that roster he might be the one I want most at Utah state. He and Robinson are basically it. We recruited him pretty hard out of high school d...

Given the list he's probably an unrealistic target. But I love seeing that Calhoun clearly works the transfer portal hard.

Re: Current State of USU Basketball
Does the increased assistant salary pool mean we’ll have an additional assistant spot? So we could retain Haslam & Brown, add Calhoun’s 2 Youngstown guys AND add an additional assistant that we’re assumedly recruiting from the Final 4 interviews?

Re: Great Osobor
Calhoun likes to have bigs to shoot 3s. Osobor does not fit that scheme. DJ Burns had shot 9 3's through his for 4 years of college ball. Calhoun said the staff worked on his shot all summer and he shot 96 of them this season. Now, 32% obviously isn't great, but I don't think Calhoun is afraid of l...

Re: No Slam Dunk Hire
For me, the closest thing there is to a slam dunk hire would be Chris Mack. I don't think we have even inquired and I think he could easily get a job at a P4 but the problem is those opportunities are all but gone at this point. He says he's looking for the right fit - how many places offer as many...

Re: Jerrod Calhoun!!!
So Aggies#10 was right when he first posted Calhoun. Then followed it up by saying we’d probably keep Haslam, Brown, and basically the whole roster. Osobor, Martinez, Uduje, Falslev, and Johnson. That would be an absolute miracle if the whole band (minus Brown - massive loss) was coming back. Go por...

The fact that this is still the case is kind of shocking. Doesn't mean there won't still be an exodus, but maybe Sabau was able to buy some time with this group.

He had an extremely senior-laden roster. 4 of his top 5 scorers were super seniors and the 5th was also a senior (maybe an extra year of eligibility left but probably not).hipsterdoofus21 wrote: ↑March 29th, 2024, 4:24 pmWho does Calhoun have on his team that he could get here?

She finished by saying that they want to hire someone that has already achieved a similar level of success we've had this year. 28 wins and an NCAA win is a huge accomplishment. But we should always be reaching and pushing for another level.

She mentioned how whether or not you use a search firm, the key is to do a lot of research. She didn't feel it necessary because of the vast pool of connections she has with other programs, coaches (college and NBA), AD's, etc. across the country.
