NMSU has a better resume for seed purposes than Nevada.

Re: NMSU destroys Hawaii, is hawaii beatable?
Hawaii might recover because they do have some good players, but last night, they looked like they were tired of traveling, tired or each other, and just had all kinds of bad body language.
I would be shocked if they beat LaTech, but they might be a dangerous 4 seed if they refocus.

I don't think the "counseling out" is as nefarious as some make it out to be. I imagine the conversation is essentially along the lines of "you are unlikely to see a lot of playing time here. If you would like me to help you find a spot where you can find a better fit for your skills, I would be hap...

I think another thing that has hurt Pane this year is the quality of the screens being set for him. They are still moving screens, just like they have always been under Stew, but a moving Tai Wesley is almost impossible to get around and a moving Ben Clifford isn't nearly as much of an impediment. :...

Nevada. They have too many weapons. I went to the SJSU-Nevada game tonight. First of all, SJSU's gym sucks, is already an embarrassment in the WAC, and would be a bigger embarrassment in the MWC if they got an invite. But you all knew that. I thought Nevada was good. Burton is really good but they ...

Cherry and silver are UNM's official colors. Turquoise (the numbers) has been used before as an accent as a nod to the local Native population.

Re: Video of Burton's 3
If that had been Pane they would have called an offensive foul 100% of the time. Reputation is everything in basketball, and the refs are human too. The defender doesn't always have to be standing square if the offensive guy initiates contact like that and clears out. That's true, but he still need...

Re: Video of Burton's 3
I agree that is not a foul on Medlin. For it to be an O foul, Medlin would have to have established a legal defensive position (both feet on the ground) prior to the initiation of contact, and Burton would have had to gain an advantage as the result of the contact. Im not sure that both of those thi...

So is it 69-66 or 77-75, MJA?
I agree with lkgates- something in the neighborhood of a 6-10 point Nevada win primarily due to rebounding and post scoring.

I think Hunt has had a fine season, but he's clearly not better than Joaquim or McKines. I would have him as second team center, as it seems Rahman has cooled off in the last 3 games. Re: The Hawaii game is huge...
I like USU to win, but Hawaii to cover. Matchup issues up front, probably a lot of offensive boards for Hawaii. It's unfortunate for USU that in a year where they are struggling with post depth, the top 3 teams in the conference are all excellent at rebounding.

NMSU is clearly better than Hawaii? As an NMSU fan, I'm not sure that's true. As i posted on NMSU board v1 (thanks to you, QAA, and MJA and your collective obsession this has quickly become NMSU board v2) there are a couple ways to look at the NMSU-UH game. Hawaii did some things that probably aren'...

Yeah, they totally gave up... And closed the game on an 18-8 run to make it interesting with a minute to go. Definitely the sign of a mentally weak team.

I never said or implied that the game was never close. I stated that USU folded up in the last 13 minutes ( which you acknowledge) and that I don't think a close loss on the island means much about NMSU's mental toughness. Do you think your team shooting themselves in the foot had anything to do wit...

Do we need to have another 20 point trip behind the woodshed to convince you that NMSU is mentally tough? Wow. I will give you that NMSU could lose on the island, but what it would tell me is that the Rainbows are a talented bunch who match up well with the NewMags. Unless they completely fold (like...

Ironically, the primary thing your team is missing is a "thug" in the paint. Y'all are soft, sorry to say. Maybe that's different with Brady, but if it doesn't change, you will continue to get pushed around.

This certainly isn't a complete USU team- physicality in the post since jardine left is the most notable missing component. Similarly, this isn't a complete NMSU squad either. We have no Gillenwater or JY who can pull a bucket out going 1 on 3- Wen gets his, but that's through hard work and physical...

by the refs tomorrow, I think we leave Las Cruces with a close W. IMO we are currently playing better and are a better team than NMSU. If Nevada played @NMSU Saturday, they would have won by 15+. NMSU is a poor mans, worse version of Miss St. so I think we all know we can play with teams like Miss ...
