Re: Recruiting

I talked with a friend of mine who lives in the same neighborhood as Conlon. He said he's a great kid, really good athlete, has all the intangibles you'd want in a football player, but is a tweener -- a bit undersized for the D Line but maybe not enough lateral quickness to move to LB. My friend als...

Re: Great defensive adjustment by Smith

We went the same zone against BYU and it helped but we still lost. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk The zone against BYU really helped us get back into the game. The problem was we stayed with it too long. Once BYU figured it out, we should have switched out. Resulted in too many open threes towa...

Re: Depth Chart conjecture with shifting back to 3-4 base defense

I do think Derek Wright can play a bigger role in 2020 and Ajani will take a step forward in year 2. I remember someone saying that AJ Carter is switching to play corner next year, so I think that takes out another possible WR contributor. Or was that speculation and he will be playing WR? I think ...

Ranking of MW Coaching Jobs

Interesting ranking of MW coaching jobs from most to least desirable from Jeff Goodman:

I'm obviously biased, but I would have expected USU to be higher on the list.

I don't understand the fascination with Jay Hill. Craig Bohl won 3 consecutive FCS championships. Now many Wyoming fans want to move on from him. Does anyone know of any success stories of FCS head coaches moving to FBS head coaching positions? Surely there must be some. It's an honest question...I...

I feel like this is exactly the kind of player we should be going after. A player with a high ceiling and the right physical profile even if he has a low floor and bust potential. It will all come down to development. If the new coaching staff can excel in player development, Queta could end up bein...

I was at the game so I didn't have the benefit of replay, but I liked the play call when I saw it. Neilson is a pretty skilled but lacks lateral quickness. Rector did a great job all night of getting to the basket and finishing over and around Neilson. I thought it made sense to have Janicek set the...

That's the way I understand it. Majstorovic is already committed which leaves one scholarship available for a JC point guard.

I'm not convinced that Maile is ready to be DC yet. I mean, he's only been a coach for four years and he's only coached D-Line. Clune and Lorig seem like better choices. He started as a GA the summer after he graduated. working with strength and conditioning. He has about the same amount of coachin...

That analogy doesn't really work because the guy who pushed the boat into the water didn't have a chance to cover for all of the other mistakes that were made in the process by the rest of the team. If he had a chance to fix all of the mistake, but didn't he probably deserves a portion of the blame,...

Re: Am I getting too excited?!

There were certainly other plays (punt return TD, etc.) that could have affected the outcome of the game, but the effect isn't nearly as obvious and easily calculable as the missed field goal. We could have prevented the punt return TD and still lost, there's no way to know. Conversely, we know exac...

Re: Big East=Toxic Toast

That may be true, but if Boise turns the invitation down and the BE fills its spot with someone else and keeps the autobid then Boise is worse off. Also, if AFA, SMU and Houston join as well, the travel in their division wouldn't be quite as onerous.

Re: Big East=Toxic Toast

I disagree. I think BSU, AFA, UCF and Navy join the Big East and stabilize the conference. As long as the Big East has an autobid they will always be able to get non-AQ to join the conference and keep it afloat. Eventually the BE will get raided by the ACC, B1G and Big 12, but I don't think that wil...

Why would the BE extend invites to AFA and Boise if they didn't already know that those schools would accept? Our expansion hopes really hinge on the BE. If the BE stays solvent I think USU has a great shot at the MWC. If the BE collapses, USU could be in world of hurt. As long as the BE has AQ stat...
