Re: Our top 9 players in-conference stats

I keep hearing Coach Smith talk about how well Shulga is doing in practice. We might see him on the floor soon.

It's kind of hard to beat out all the coaches sons for playing time since that is the only way Larry K can recruit kids to play for him now.

Re: Keys against SDSU?

Queta will be the difference. They’ll leave him one on one vs Mensah so he’ll have to score efficiently down low. If he can do that then it will create open shots outside. If he’s not efficient then I’m afraid we’ll struggle offensively.

I thought the same thing about McEwen and Merrill and obviously McEwen didn't stick around. Also, didn't Nate Williams and Marv Roberts play together or am I wrong?

It also helps we're limiting them to one shot per possession and limiting turnovers on offense. Those first couple games giving up 80+ had a lot of turnovers and easy buckets involved.

Re: New Mexico/UNLV underperforming

Those two squads have been affected the most by COVID, it seems. Whether it's a bunch of canceled games and limited practices or playing home games in a different state. That's a lot for any team. The broadcast last night mentioned New Mexico had their first practice Nov. 20. At least that's what I ...

We need to remember an 18 year old true freshman in America has never played with a 3 pt line as far back as it is. Give him some time to consistently work on it.

Jordan got screwed because of Covid. He had no chance to do OTA's, and no chance to train with the Packers until Fall Camp. Add in no preseason games and boom he's 3rd string. He needed to sit for a year or two anyways, but with Covid it was a no brainer. It's not all bad, Aaron Rodgers sat behind F...

We need a clean slate of all new coaches. I like what Maile and Collins have done for USU but it’s become stale. New blood and new energy is what this program needs.

Re: The Jump it takes to reach...

Here's my two cents: I don't think Cockett meant any ill will towards Maile because of his religion or background. What I'm curious about is if his religion and background were a concern in the hiring process, then why? Why would it be a bad thing to hire someone of the LDS faith in Logan, UT? Why w...

Re: So who do you hope it is?

More Maile love than I thought. I think he has great potential to be a head coach because it seems like his players love him and they would do anything for him. If Gary had run the program like he did the first time around then I'd be a lot more comfortable with Maile taking over. However, the way t...

Re: Next Game - What do we know?

Based on the first half I would think the Aggies can beat either BYU or USC. BYU is not the hot shooting 3-point team of yester-year and they don't have much of an inside game either. As long as we don't bring out the best in them, we should be OK. And, this year, the best in them may not be enough...

Re: Next Game - What do we know?

They were the best three point shooting team in the country last year. We switched to a 1-3-1 zone to slow them down which did work for a bit. Unfortunately we left Barcelo wide open at the end of the game because of it. I could see us mixing defenses to keep them off balance again

Re: Next Game - What do we know?

.... They are not a tall team. They do have a center that’s 6’11” but doesn’t play much. Then it’s sole 6’9” forwards that will be the most threat in the post. We should have the advantage there but we saw how well that played into our favor against SDSU. We made some good strides the last game but...
